Chapter 75: The day after tomorrow, the 19th, Thursday, at 12 PM, the shelves will be stocked, requesting first subscription
The go-live date has been set for the day after tomorrow – Thursday the 19th at noon, 12 PM. I checked, and the public period had over 270,000 characters, a bit less than expected, but it’ll do!
This is my first time writing a historical web novel. It’s mainly because I’m unwilling to settle and want to try different genres to see if I can improve myself. One always has to step out of their comfort zone, and after stepping out and back in, there’s bound to be progress.
Staying only within one’s comfort zone, based on my many years of life experience, seems to lead to stagnation. In the context of web novels, this means being abandoned by readers, right?
After all, readers’ tastes are constantly improving. If a writer doesn’t keep up with the times and continuously seek novelty and change, they’re doomed sooner or later.
Therefore, I still foolishly hope to make progress in the future, to delay the time I’m abandoned by everyone for as long as possible, and to extend my part-time job career so I can scam a bit more money. So, I tried it, and as expected, I messed it up terribly. But there’s no turning back once the arrow is shot, so I have to give it my all to do my best, to strive for a good ending. That way, at least I’ll have a clear conscience.
Of course, the main issue was the pacing. Due to the niche genre, I was forced to include some uninteresting explanations, otherwise, it would be incomprehensible later on, making the first two volumes quite boring. But I think it will get better later. The protagonist will be forced to participate in the war of turbulent times, manage his own territory, fight independently, and marry a princess whose age I dare not mention too much to keep at home, along with four ninjas fighting it out at home. That should be somewhat interesting, but it’s not guaranteed. I haven’t written it yet, so I don’t know what it will be like, and it might be very uninteresting.
In any case, I’ll give it my all! I’ll finish this book properly and then go back to rectify my mistakes!
So, consider these my launch remarks. I won’t post them again on Thursday. At noon, I’ll release the first subscription chapter (. Based on past experience, it might be delayed by a few minutes, and the word count will be a bit less ). In the afternoon, I’ll release a regular update at 5:30 PM, and then another regular update around 8 or 9 PM. From then on, there will be two regular updates per day, around 7,000 characters. When I’m on standby or on leave, I’ll see if I can make up for the promised extra chapters for the patrons.
This is the extent of my capabilities. I still have to go to work during the day and can only do this as a part-time job at night. This means working 14-15 hours a day, which I should be able to manage. Anything more would be too much, so I ask for your understanding.
Given my current situation, I definitely can’t ask for votes. We’ve basically never asked for votes before, and others ask for votes to get extra chapters. I really can’t bring myself to ask, but for this first subscription… I still hope everyone can support it as much as possible. If you really don’t like it or can’t support it, that’s fine. We’ll see with the next book; maybe you’ll like that one.
Anyway, that’s how it is. My reputation is ruined, and I’m starting over. Saying too much isn’t good, so please judge me by my future performance!
Thank you all in advance for your support over the years for Haidi LOW!
