Chapter 4: This Game is All About Opportunities
Wu Dahu, extremely shocked, even stammered as he looked at Han Tian: “Big Shot, do you think this game… this game… is too real?”
From the moment they entered, he hadn’t seen any mosaic squares indicating code errors in the surrounding environment.
They were in a small courtyard, semi-enclosed, with three tiled houses on the left and top, all in a completely ancient style.
Everything within their line of sight was constructed perfectly reasonably.
They could clearly smell scents, and their bodies, fatigued from playing the game, felt incredibly invigorated, as if their brains had been thoroughly cleansed.
Looking up, they saw a clear blue sky with white clouds drifting by; everything was beautifully and unrealistically real.
They wore simple cloth clothes; though poor, they were authentic.
The only issue.
was that they pinched their own faces.
There was sensation but no pain, good, they were in the game.
Han Tian was also very shocked, but due to his personality, he was more composed.
But his heart was pounding rapidly, and coupled with the shout from outside, Han Tian said, “It’s probably an NPC guide (Game Character) calling us. Let’s go out and see.”
The NPC was outside the courtyard.
To prevent A Wu from being too shocked by the connection to the puppets in the courtyard, Song Jiulai hadn’t told anyone where they came from, only that they were newcomers.
A Wu obediently didn’t look.
Until Wu Dahu and Han Tian walked out.
The shock intensified when these two saw the outside.
The Longevity Sect, unable to compete for territory back then, only established their sect on a pitiful mountain slope with sparse Spiritual Energy.
The buildings in the courtyard were actually the main hall.
Yes, they were so pathetic they didn’t even have a proper grand hall.
Song Jiulai had a great sense of humor when naming the game.
Down the stairs leading outwards and downwards, below the stairs was once a patch of wasteland, which the previous Sect Master had leveled to build a circular open-air structure, all made of irregular stone slabs, now barely used as a place for Cultivation Path.
A Wu was standing here.
Further down was where A Wu lived, two small houses, and next to them, the Spirit Herb fields he was responsible for.
Han Tian and Wu Dahu were stunned.
At this point, both of them couldn’t hold back, looking around with their mouths agape.
Even though the Yunzhou Continent was rich in Spiritual Energy, even this unremarkable, broken mountain was breathtakingly majestic and magnificent.
Built halfway up the mountain, close to the cliff edge, the terrain was treacherous, shrouded in mist, making everything below the mountain appear illusory and indistinct.
At first glance, it evoked a similar artistic conception to the poetic lines, ‘Taiyi is near the heavens, mountains connect to the sea’s edge.’
It even brought to mind the difficulty of: ‘The Shu Road is difficult, more difficult than reaching the sky’—
Oh no, my DNA is acting up!
“This… this… this modeling, this realism, holy crap!!”
As they walked, Wu Dahu’s legs trembled, and his voice quivered.
It was truly hard to describe that he would see a game with such Technology on Blue Star in 2024.
Holographic Game, this realism is already 99%?!
My goodness, he plays games every day too, has some new domestic Technology emerged that he hasn’t followed the news on?
What has brought him here?
Let alone him, even Han Tian, who had seen exquisitely made masterpieces and tasted incredibly bad games, and could comment on any game, was completely bewildered.
He had truly never seen this before!
A sense of indescribable trembling spread through his entire body.
He had a premonition that this game would change his life!
“Two Junior Disciples, why are you still standing there in a daze?”
A Wu looked at the two of them, stunned and dazed, slightly confused.
He muttered to himself.
Although it was impolite, why did the people the Sect Master recruited seem so unintelligent?
“Hey, hey, hey, coming, coming.”
Han Tian and Wu Dahu were startled; this game had nothing, no tutorial interface, and the NPC before them was likely the start of the main quest.
A Wu was standing on the circular building, right by the cliff; looking down from such a high vantage point would induce acrophobia, but he seemed unaffected.
Han Tian and Wu Dahu approached A Wu, and upon seeing him, who was only about ten years old and clearly a minor, they became awkward.
What should they say?
Han Tian, however, cupped his hands in an awkward gesture: “Esteemed… Senior Brother?”
He had just heard the child before him call them Junior Disciples.
A Wu nodded: “I know you are new disciples recruited by the Sect Master. I am A Wu, the Senior Disciple Brother of the Longevity Sect. From now on, I will also be your Senior Disciple Brother. Everything you do in the Longevity Sect will be guided by me.”
Wu Dahu chuckled and whispered to Han Tian in front of A Wu: “This little brat wants us to call him Senior Disciple Brother?”
A Wu’s long hair was tied up, his face delicate and youthful. At this moment, he frowned and acted like an old fuddy-duddy: “You must not be disrespectful to your Senior Brother!”
Just as Wu Dahu was about to speak, the System’s thunderous prompt sounded.
【Players are not allowed to reveal their player identity to any NPC, nor can they easily offend NPCs. A Wu is the Senior Disciple Brother of the Longevity Sect and has decision-making authority. If you are expelled from the Longevity Sect by A Wu, it will be considered game failure, and this player ID will be banned. 】
Wu Dahu immediately became obedient.
He immediately lowered his head and admitted his mistake: “Senior Disciple Brother, I was wrong!”
Damn it, if this were any other game, Wu Dahu would have already unleashed a 30,000-word rant at the Game Merchant if an NPC dared to treat players with such an attitude!
He would have said, “If you don’t treat players like gods, what kind of trash game and trash plot are you?”
But this was Virtual, Holographic, and a Cultivation game!!
Just standing there, Wu Dahu understood what the System meant by “you will begin a brand new life.”
Senior Disciple Brother only asked him not to be disrespectful, what was Senior Disciple Brother wrong about!
It was all his own fault!
A Wu saw Wu Dahu admit his mistake so readily and smiled: “It’s alright, you’re new and unfamiliar, Senior Brother doesn’t blame you.”
His youthful appearance saying such mature words brought about a sense of amusement.
But Han Tian and Wu Dahu dared not laugh now.
Han Tian immediately seized the opportunity to ask: “May I ask Senior Disciple Brother, where is the Sect Master now?”
The Sect Master is the female lead.
The website clearly stated that Sect Master Song Jiulai was the absolute protagonist of this game.
A Wu said: “The Sect Master is currently in seclusion. She said that your daily tasks will be handled by me. The sect is currently short on resources, and there are many new disciples recruited this time, lacking accommodation. You will need to build your temporary residences yourselves.”
Starting with base building, huh?
This is what they’re good at!
Chinese people’s talent lies in farming and construction; even if they don’t know how, they can find information in minutes with a quick search.
However, this is a Cultivation game, so Han Tian still asked the crucial question: “Senior Brother, since we’ve arrived at the sect, can we all cultivate?”
In a Holographic Simulation Game, cultivation should definitely be possible, right?
A Wu said: “The Sect Master said that once all disciples have arrived, she will first teach you the techniques for physical Cultivation.”
The truth is, because they are all Puppet bodies, they can’t possibly have Spiritual Roots.
The System said there’s a way to solve it, but they have to wait until everyone is recruited.
Song Jiulai herself doesn’t know what to do next, so she’ll just dangle a carrot for now.
