Chapter 131: Man in Black
Ji Xiangyu walked out of the employee restaurant and happened to run into a group of retired employees. One of them saw him and, without a second thought, swung his cane at him.
“You hungry wolves, you even eat the money of us old men, hungry wolves, evil wolves!”
Several old employees surrounded him. Ji Xiangyu extended his hand to stop the falling cane and looked at them calmly, saying, “Esteemed seniors, I understand your feelings. I will provide everyone with a reasonable explanation for this matter. Even if we don’t get double pensions, I will fight to secure what is rightfully yours. Please do not act impulsively, as conflict with the hotel staff is very disadvantageous for you!”
Although his words were spoken calmly, they were persuasive and convincing. And as the Chairman, there was nothing excessive about him saying this, right?
The old folks sighed as they looked at Ji Xiangyu, “This is the only way. If the hotel had kept its promise to us, we wouldn’t have had to resort to this. We’re all old now, and all we want is to rely on that money for our retirement! Sigh…”
Ji Xiangyu understood the helplessness of the elderly and vowed to see this matter through to the end!
“Don’t worry, I will do what I promise! And please, esteemed seniors, go home and wait patiently. This still requires the approval of the Board of Directors!”
The elderly looked at Ji Xiangyu with gratitude and said earnestly, “You are truly a good Chairman!”
Ji Xiangyu nodded slightly, his gaze firm as he looked at the elders!
After seeing off the retired employees, he hurried back to his office to handle VIP member matters. Midway, a man in a black trench coat and a baseball cap rushed past, looking shifty. Ji Xiangyu had a strong intuition that this person was not simple.
He immediately followed. The man in black walked through the corridor and entered the hotel’s Rest Building. Access to this building was restricted to VIPs with prior reservations and hotel executives; no one else could enter without proper authorization.
This mysterious man in black entered the Rest Building so easily. Could he be engaged in something clandestine!
Just as he was about to enter, the guard at the doorway stopped him, saying, “Unauthorized personnel are not allowed to enter!”
Ji Xiangyu looked at the guard and said in a chilling tone, “When did you get here? You don’t even recognize me?”
The guard scrutinized the person before him, searching his mind for information about this individual, but he couldn’t recall anything!
Ji Xiangyu saw the man in black enter the elevator and immediately followed. The guard tried to stop him from behind, but Ji Xiangyu’s stern gaze intimidated him into silence!
Ji Xiangyu watched as the elevator stopped on the Sixth Floor, and he followed suit!
After Ji Xiangyu left, the guard was still flustered, wondering who this formidable figure was.
Ji Xiangyu followed them up to the Sixth Floor, where the Tea Room was primarily for VIP clients. The surroundings were incredibly quiet, with only the melodious and elegant sound of the Guqin!
Ji Xiangyu walked in. Each Tea Room was separated by a beaded curtain, making it difficult to see the people inside at a glance!
As Ji Xiangyu approached, he gently parted a beaded curtain and peeked inside through a small gap. Initially, he looked into several rooms, but they contained only unimportant people!
Just as he was about to leave, a secluded room in the farthest corner caught his attention. Why was this room closed off?
He walked over with a question in mind. Just as he was about to open the door, the manager of the Tea Room approached him, “Chairman, what are you doing here?”
Ji Xiangyu stopped what he was doing and said, “What is this room for?”
The manager explained with a smile, “This is a Platinum VIP private room, specifically for distinguished guests to conduct business, such as government officials, council members, and so on.”
Ji Xiangyu understood, “Is there anyone inside now?”
The manager looked at Ji Xiangyu with difficulty and stammered, “Yes!”
Without a second thought, Ji Xiangyu turned the door handle, but it didn’t budge. He looked at the manager, “The card?”
The manager said with difficulty, “Card? Chairman, there are important guests inside. You really shouldn’t go in. It would be very troublesome if you angered the hotel!”
Ji Xiangyu frowned and said sternly, “Open the door!”
The manager tried to stall further, but Ji Xiangyu became enraged, “Do I need to say it again? Open the door!”
The manager was on the verge of tears. Wasn’t the Chairman putting him in a difficult position?
Before the manager could open the door, someone came out from inside. Seeing the two in a standoff, they asked, “What’s wrong?”
The manager said subserviently to the council member, “Speaker, this is our new Chairman!”
Ji Xiangyu ignored them. He saw a dark figure leaving through the exit and immediately gave chase. The manager was truly on the verge of tears because of Ji Xiangyu. This new Chairman, how could he change his mind so quickly? He didn’t even greet the Speaker, showing no respect!
The Speaker looked at Ji Xiangyu’s retreating back and said, “What Chairman? No manners at all!”
The manager bowed respectfully and apologized, “Speaker, I sincerely apologize. I apologize on behalf of our Chairman.”
The Speaker waved his hand, signifying the matter was settled.
At this moment, Situ Haonan emerged, accompanied by a man in black. Upon seeing the Speaker, he respectfully said, “My nephew is young and inexperienced. Please do not take it to heart, Speaker!”
The Speaker looked at Situ Haonan and smiled, “So it’s Mr. Situ. Long time no see, how have you been!”
Situ Haonan warmly greeted the Speaker. After seeing him off, he turned to the man in black beside him and said, “Next time, do not let anyone discover our meeting, or you know the consequences!”
The man in black nodded silently, not speaking a word throughout, and then quietly departed.
Situ Haonan watched the direction the man in black left, a smile playing on his lips.
