Chapter 133: Preventing Scandals
The scene was chaotic. Andrei, looking at the male waiter who had already swallowed the medicine, felt a surge of anger. He glared around, trying to find the culprit in the crowd. However, everyone’s face showed nothing but panic; there wasn’t a single clue to be found!
Andrei shifted his attention to the media. Reporters, desperate for a headline and disregarding their own safety, were furiously snapping photos of the scene!
Andrei looked at them with disgust, his heart filled with anxiety. Who was it? Who wanted to kill Athena?
At this moment, Andrei’s gaze fell upon Situ Jingyi. He noticed that despite the major incident at her store’s opening ceremony, she showed no panic. In fact, she was calmly directing guests to evacuate. This was too abnormal; everything was too abnormal.
If it really was Situ Jingyi, then he had been fooled. Would Situ Jingyi be foolish enough to commit a crime at her own opening ceremony and then face police investigation?
With so many questions, Andrei dared not jump to conclusions without evidence. If he guessed wrong and the culprit escaped, it would be at the cost of Athena’s life!
After the medical personnel and police arrived, Andrei walked towards Athena and Ji Xiangyu. He felt a chilling draft behind him, sending shivers down his spine!
He turned around and met the gaze of a man wearing sunglasses and holding a DSLR camera. Andrei stared intently at the man in sunglasses, as if he could pierce through the lenses and grab his eyes!
The next second, the man in sunglasses pointed his DSLR at Andrei and clicked it a few times! The second after that, he vanished!
Andrei wanted to chase after him but couldn’t see him anywhere. This must have been done by someone from the inside. This threat was too direct, too blatant!
Andrei stepped forward and asked with concern, “Athena, are you alright?”
Athena shook her head. With a grim expression, she asked, “Andrei, do you know who did this?”
Andrei shook his head. He glanced at Ji Xiangyu, then down at their two tightly clasped hands. A thought suddenly struck him: do people in love unconsciously attract each other?
Andrei pulled Athena aside and sternly warned, “Chairman, this is a public place. Please be mindful of your image as Chairman. I don’t want tomorrow’s headline to be about my female assistant and the Chairman being involved!”
Athena looked at Andrei with a troubled expression and said, “General Manager, you’ve misunderstood. If the Chairman hadn’t pulled me away just now, I might not be alive anymore!”
Ji Xiangyu had saved her life twice, disregarding his own safety. She couldn’t bear for Ji Xiangyu to be misunderstood by others again; her heart was filled with gratitude towards him.
The more Athena acted this way, the angrier Andrei became. He tried hard to prevent Ji Xiangyu and her from getting closer. The more they became entangled, the more powerless he felt to stop it all!
Andrei suppressed his anger: “Regardless, I hope the Chairman will pay more attention to her identity in public places to avoid harming innocent people!”
This statement served as a warning, but also as advice for Athena.
Athena lowered her gaze. What was Ji Xiangyu’s status, and what was hers?
Ji Xiangyu’s face was cold as he provocatively looked at Andrei and said, “The General Manager is so worried about Athena; I can’t help but suspect the General Manager has ulterior motives!”
Andrei suppressed the urge to go up and punch Ji Xiangyu, gritting his teeth and saying, “Chairman, do not test my patience. My people will always be my people; it’s not your place to interfere or discipline them!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Andrei roughly grabbed Athena’s hand and pulled her outside. Athena looked at the two men arguing over her again, feeling very helpless. On one side was Andrei, who treated her like a sister; on the other was Ji Xiangyu, who had saved her life without hesitation. What should she do?
The feeling of being caught between a rock and a hard place was truly unbearable!
