Chapter 153: Locked Her Into The Small Dark Room
When He Yingying went into the women’s restroom, Li He’an lit a cigarette and waited for her outside.
If he weren’t afraid she would run away, he wouldn’t even bother getting out of the car to follow.
Li He’an waited, his face full of impatience. He threw the cigarette butt on the ground and forcefully ground it with the tip of his shoe.
Seeing He Yingying come out, he frowned and asked, “Why did you take so long inside?”
“I just went to the toilet, was it long?” A hint of displeasure appeared in He Yingying’s eyes.
Li He’an sighed in his heart. To avoid any slip-ups, he could only force himself to endure it a bit longer.
After all, they had already persevered to this point.
Li He’an stepped forward and pulled her into his arms, coaxing her gently, “Yingying, don’t misunderstand. I’m not complaining about you taking too long. It’s just that I don’t want to be separated from you for even a second…”
These words made He Yingying happy again.
Jiang Yuan sat in the back seat of the car, his gaze indifferently watching He Yingying being taken into the car by Li He’an.
Chen Ziqi took photos of the two of them.
Si Heng arranged for a vehicle to wait at the exit of the service area. As soon as Li He’an’s car moved, he notified He Lewei in the car to set off in advance.
“A Cheng, how much longer is it?” He Yingying sat so long her back ached. She had sat from dark until dawn, and now the sun was about to set again. “My phone is almost out of battery.”
Li He’an was driving and was also somewhat tired. He frowned and said, “Don’t rush, it’s very soon.”
“It’s so far, why don’t we take the high-speed rail or a plane?” He Yingying asked bewilderedly.
Li He’an casually perfunctorily replied, “Driving is more convenient.”
He Yingying: “…”
Is this convenient? She truly didn’t agree at all.
He Yingying was emotional and shouted, “We’ve been driving for a day and a night! I don’t think this is convenient at all! It’s so tiring and a waste of time!”
Li He’an said coldly, “I’m driving right now, and I don’t want to quarrel with you.”
“You…” He Yingying never expected that the journey, which started with anticipation, would turn out like this.
Her eye sockets reddened, and she sobbed softly.
The dark, burly man in the passenger seat opened his eyes and turned his head to give Li He’an a warning glance.
Li He’an frowned, but softened his voice and coaxed, “Yingying, don’t cry. I’m just blaming myself for making you so uncomfortable. I originally wanted you to see the scenery along the way… I should have taken you by plane. I’m sorry.”
Hearing these words, He Yingying began to reflect on whether she was being too unreasonable.
The sky grew darker. At midnight, Li He’an’s car entered the boundaries of Tiannan Province.
Si Heng contacted the local Public Security Bureau for the first time, explaining the situation in detail and requesting their cooperation in the arrest operation.
He Yingying’s mobile phone battery was completely depleted, and the power bank was also out of power.
“A Cheng, my phone is out of battery, I want to charge it.” He Yingying handed her phone to Li He’an.
“We’re almost home,” Li He’an took her phone and put it in his clothes pocket. “You can charge it when we get home.”
“Are we almost at your house?” He Yingying revealed a joyful expression.
Li He’an: “Yes.”
The horizon was flushed with fish belly white, and the first rays of dawn pierced through the clouds, illuminating the darkness.
He Yingying drowsily opened her eyes and saw tall mountains shrouded in clouds and mist flashing past the car window.
“Why does it look so much like the mountains?” she frowned and asked, “A Cheng, is your home in the countryside?”
“What’s wrong?” Li He’an asked without much emotion. “Do you look down on people from the countryside?”
A hint of unease began to stir in He Yingying’s heart. “Didn’t you say your home wasn’t far from Yun Jing?”
Li He’an: “It’s not far.”
“Not far from where?” He Yingying’s eyes widened. “It’s clearly very far!”
Li He’an ignored her.
The rising sun dispersed the morning mist, and the scenery outside the window became clearer.
Towering mountains rose from the ground, and layered trees were rooted on the steep slopes, with sharp rocks seemingly piercing the sky.
Jiang Yuan turned his head to look at the receding mountains outside the car window, his brow furrowed. He murmured, “In such a remote mountainous area, no wonder those kidnapped people can’t escape…”
“Yes,” Xiao Xu agreed, nodding. “It’s too scary. Forget about escaping, even if we were to walk normally in this place, we might not be able to get out.”
“Indeed,” Jiang Yuan pursed his lips, a difficult-to-describe discomfort in his mood.
The car drove deeper into the mountains, and the road was bumpy, making He Yingying’s heart jump.
She thought of posts she had seen online about being trapped in the hundred thousand mountains and unable to get out.
He Yingying tentatively asked, “A Cheng, when are we going back to Yun Jing?”
“Are you already thinking about that when we haven’t even reached my home?” Li He’an turned to look at her, his expression displeased. “I’m from the countryside, did I disappoint you?”
“No,” He Yingying quickly shook her head and explained. “I want to book our return flight tickets in advance. I don’t want to take a car back.”
Li He’an casually appeased her, “Okay, I’ll buy the plane tickets later.”
He Yingying quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
The car finally stopped.
Li He’an opened the car door and let her out.
He Yingying, who was preparing to meet her boyfriend’s parents, was a little excited. To her surprise, stepping out of the car, she didn’t see Li He’an’s parents, but a group of lecherous middle-aged men wearing yellowed undershirts and baring their big yellow teeth.
Their gazes stuck to her like rotten egg liquid, making her feel very uncomfortable.
He Yingying’s heart tightened, and she subconsciously hid in Li He’an’s arms.
He was her only sense of safety here.
To her surprise, Li He’an forcefully pushed her away.
He Yingying twisted her foot, lost her balance, and fell to the ground.
She looked up at him, incredulously asking, “A Cheng, why did you push me?”
Li He’an looked at her with disgust in his eyes and turned to one of the bald middle-aged men, saying, “I’ve brought the person.”
He Yingying’s body trembled uncontrollably, and she realized something was wrong.
She quickly got up from the ground, turned around, and started to run.
She had only run a short distance before being caught. Those people locked her into a small dark room emitting an unpleasant smell.
Little Mo Yan landed on the small window of the small dark room and heard heart-rending cries from inside.
It really wanted to tell her that Yuan Yuan had already come to save her and that she didn’t need to cry so miserably.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t understand.
Little Mo Yan finally glanced at He Yingying with sympathy and flapped its wings, flying away.
When they entered the deep mountains earlier, the road was not easy to navigate, and Si Heng’s group was afraid of alerting the enemy, so they didn’t dare to follow too closely.
Jiang Yuan had asked Little Mo Yan, who had eaten its fill, to follow Li He’an’s car. At the fork in the road, it was to prepare road signs and also to understand the situation in the village.
Little Mo Yan flew around the village, made a few friends, and after inquiring about some matters, flew back with one of the magpies to find Jiang Yuan.
Si Heng had everyone stop two kilometers away from the entrance of Yongshan Village.
“My back is about to break from sitting,” Meng Xiaokai got out of the car to stretch his limbs.
“Tell me about it,” He Lewei walked up to him, talking while rubbing his neck. “I’m exhausted.”
