Fu Xiaoxiao was not suitable to enter the crime scene. Chen Ziqi thoughtfully rephrased: “The air inside isn’t good. I’ll chat with you outside.”
Fu Xiaoxiao put her hands in her pockets and slowly squatted down, shaking her head with little emotion. “You go ahead and do your work. I’ll just stay here by myself.”

She wasn’t scared at first because she was worried Jiang Yuan would be framed, and later she was angered by Xie Meichen’s words. Now that she was calm, Xie Yuchen’s ashen face kept flashing through her mind.
“I don’t dare to sleep alone tonight.” Fu Xiaoxiao said, burying her entire face in her knees.

A few seconds later, Fu Xiaoxiao slowly looked up and saw a coconut candy lying in his palm.
She looked at Chen Ziqi again, her eyebrows furrowed even tighter. “Are you trying to fool a three-year-old? How does eating candy calm your mood?”
“How about this,” Chen Ziqi said mysteriously. “If you’re afraid to sleep tonight, you can call me.”
Fu Xiaoxiao: “No way.”
Chen Ziqi: “…”
Why didn’t this person answer according to the usual script?

The corner of Chen Ziqi’s mouth turned up slightly, and a faint smile crept into his eyes. “You really are an intelligent and sensible girl.”

Why was this person acting so strange?
She took out her headphones from her bag and put them on, her attitude of refusing communication obvious.
Chen Ziqi didn’t mind and turned to enter Xie Yuchen’s house. “Any progress?”

Jiang Yuan said calmly, “Xie Yuchen is a neat freak. He doesn’t cook at home, rarely eats at home, and often invites people to clean.”
“Should we leave then?” Chen Ziqi asked.
Thinking of Fu Xiaoxiao waiting outside, Jiang Yuan nodded. “Okay.”
Passing by the entrance hall, Jiang Yuan suddenly noticed an ecological tank on the cabinet, with a box of feed next to it, labeled freeze-dried insects.
“Wait a moment.”
“What’s wrong?” Xiao Xu looked back at her.
Jiang Yuan pointed at the ecological tank in front of her. “This house definitely has animals.”
Xiao Xu and Chen Ziqi’s eyes lit up. “Then should we search again?”
“Wait for me,” Jiang Yuan took off her gloves and walked to the door. She saw Fu Xiaoxiao squatting on the floor and called out to her.
Fu Xiaoxiao was wearing headphones and didn’t react.
Jiang Yuan walked up to her and patted her shoulder. “Xiaoxiao.”
Fu Xiaoxiao, caught off guard by the sudden touch, trembled and fell to the ground.
“Did I scare you?” Jiang Yuan hugged her. “Don’t be scared, it’s me.”
Fu Xiaoxiao took off her headphones, her eyes red, and tried to hold back tears. “It’s okay, I wasn’t scared. Are you done?”
“Not yet,” Jiang Yuan said softly. “Shall I have Xiao Xu send you back?”
“No need,” Fu Xiaoxiao shook her head. “I’ll wait for you.”
After a slight hesitation, Jiang Yuan pulled her up. “Then why don’t you come inside and wait for me?”
Fu Xiaoxiao asked uncertainly, “Can I come inside?”
Jiang Yuan: “Just sit inside and play on your phone while you wait for us.”
“Okay,” Fu Xiaoxiao nodded.
Jiang Yuan pulled her into Xie Yuchen’s house. “Just sit on the sofa and play on your phone.”
“Then go ahead and get busy,” Fu Xiaoxiao waved her hands at her. “Don’t worry about me.”
“Alright,” Jiang Yuan walked towards Xiao Xu and Chen Ziqi and explained in a low voice, “I’m worried about Xiaoxiao, so I’m letting her sit here. I guarantee she won’t disturb the scene, and I’ll be responsible if anything happens.”
Xiao Xu and Chen Ziqi both said it was fine, and then continued their search.
The ecological tank wasn’t large, so the animal inside was likely small.
Judging by the feed, it was probably a reptile pet like a lizard or a spider.
Jiang Yuan and the other two searched separately in the bedroom, kitchen, and gaming room, searching every corner but found no trace of any animal.
“Did you find anything?” Chen Ziqi asked, coming out of the gaming room.
Jiang Yuan and Xiao Xu answered simultaneously, “No.”
Chen Ziqi frowned. “I’ll check the toilet.”
Fu Xiaoxiao sat on the sofa with her back straight, her bottom perched only on the very edge of the seat. Her body was like a taut string, and a chill surged up from her feet like a cold tide.
She pressed her lips together, took a difficult deep breath, and Xie Yuchen’s pale face flashed through her mind again and again.
Just then, she felt a strange sensation on her foot.
Fu Xiaoxiao’s eyelashes trembled, and fear washed over her. A scream escaped her throat: “Ah—Help!”
Hearing the noise, the three of them immediately came to the living room.
“Xiaoxiao, what’s wrong?” Jiang Yuan asked anxiously.
Fu Xiaoxiao dared not move, her voice trembling. “Something’s touching my foot!”
The expressions of the group suddenly changed. Jiang Yuan immediately squatted down to check, Chen Ziqi circled to the other side of the sofa, and Xiao Xu felt for the gun on her waist.
Seeing the small creature clinging to Fu Xiaoxiao’s leg, Jiang Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. “Found it!”
“You found it?” Chen Ziqi seemed surprised.
The little spider trembled as it climbed on Fu Xiaoxiao’s calf, shouting in panic, “Ah, ah, ah, what’s that noise?”
“Little Spider, we are humans.” Jiang Yuan slowly extended her hand and picked it up.
The little spider flailed its eight legs, struggling in the air. “Help, I’ve been caught by a scary human!”
“Don’t be scared, don’t be scared,” Jiang Yuan quickly comforted it. “I won’t hurt you.”
She quickly walked to the ecological tank, put the little spider inside, and fastened the escape-proof net. Turning to Fu Xiaoxiao, she said, “Xiaoxiao, you’re safe now, it’s just Little Spider.”
“Little Spider,” Fu Xiaoxiao felt her heart pounding like a drum. She pursed her lips and said, “You scared me to death! I thought someone was under the sofa.”
