Chapter 247: He Seems Like A Dog Raised By My Master
After lunch, in the police station’s conference room.
Jiang Yuan sat in front of the ecological tank, feeding the trembling little spider, her mind on Fu Xiaoxiao in the office area.
She turned her head to Xiao Xu and said, “I’m going to check on Xiaoxiao.”
“Okay,” Xiao Xu nodded. “It’s the first time encountering something like this, I guess she’s pretty scared.”
“Yeah,” Jiang Yuan stood up and walked out of the conference room.
Fu Xiaoxiao had just finished giving her statement and came out of the interrogation room. The two happened to meet head-on, “Yuan Yuan.”
“Are you feeling any better?” Jiang Yuan took her hand. “Do you want to go across the street and buy a coffee or milk tea?”
“Much better,” Fu Xiaoxiao linked her arm through Jiang Yuan’s and smiled. “No need, you go ahead with your work. I’ve already called Xiaohang to pick me up.”
Jiang Yuan still pulled her towards the outside of the police station. “Anyway, Xiaohang hasn’t arrived yet, let’s go buy some first. We can buy one for everyone else too.”
The two crossed the road to the opposite side and bought over a dozen milk teas. By the time they returned carrying the milk teas, Fu Xiaohang had already arrived.
Seeing them return, he anxiously asked, “Sis, Yuan Yuan, what happened? Why were you at the police station?”
“It’s nothing,” Fu Xiaoxiao waved her hands. “Just accompanying your Yuan Yuan sister at work.”
Fu Xiaohang looked at Jiang Yuan curiously. “Yuan Yuan works at the police station?”
“Don’t ask too many questions, child,” Fu Xiaoxiao stuffed a cup of milk tea into his arms. “Drink your milk tea.”
She then looked at Jiang Yuan. “Can you carry it?”
“Yes,” Jiang Yuan took the milk tea from her hand and then looked at Fu Xiaohang. “Go with your sister for a stroll.”
“Okay,” Fu Xiaohang nodded despite his mind full of questions. “I understand.”
Jiang Yuan watched them leave and entered the police station with the milk teas.
“Xiaokai, distribute the milk teas to everyone.” She handed the milk teas to Meng Xiaokai and took two cups into the conference room. “I’m back.”
Xiao Xu looked up. “Is your friend feeling better?”
“Her younger brother picked her up,” Jiang Yuan opened a milk tea and handed it to her. “Drink milk tea.”
“Thank you,” Xiao Xu took the milk tea and took a sip. “It’s delicious.”
Jiang Yuan looked at the little spider in the ecological tank and took a photo of it to do an image search.
A Blue-green Bird Spider?
Looking at the spider’s size, it should still be a baby spider.
Why would Xie Yuchen suddenly keep spiders?
Jiang Yuan put down her phone and her gaze fell back to the ecological tank. The little spider had probably recovered; its eight legs were no longer trembling, and it was slowly eating dried insects.
She said softly, “Little spider, hello. I’m Jiang Yuan. You can call me Yuan Yuan.”
Hearing the human seemed to be talking to it, the little spider stopped eating. Its eight small eyes, distributed at the front of its head, all turned.
“Are you talking to me?” the little spider asked.
Seeing it respond, Jiang Yuan’s eyes suddenly lit up, and a faint smile bloomed on her lips. “Yes, what’s your name?”
The little spider’s reaction seemed a bit slow. After a few tens of seconds, it replied, “I don’t have a name.”
“Then, can I help you think of a name?” Jiang Yuan asked tentatively.
The little spider sensed the kindness and pleasant smell from her, so it agreed. “Okay, then help me think of a nice name.”
The spider was covered in fine hairs, like velvet. Jiang Yuan slightly raised an eyebrow. “Then how about calling you Rong Rong?”
“Rong Rong?” The little spider thought for a moment and said excitedly, “That’s a very nice name, I like it very much.”
“As long as you like it,” Jiang Yuan asked gently, “Rong Rong, why aren’t you staying in the ecological tank, but hiding under the sofa instead?”
“My home’s door wasn’t closed, so I wanted to go out for a stroll,” Rong Rong said. “But then I got lost while strolling and couldn’t find my way home.”
Jiang Yuan nodded. “So that’s how it is.”
Rong Rong continued to eat the dried insects.
Jiang Yuan thought for a moment and found a photo of Xie Yuchen to show it. “Rong Rong, do you know this human?”
“Let me see,” Rong Rong crawled forward, approached the glass, and stared at the photo on the phone. “This is a bad human. He really dislikes me.”
“Why do you think he dislikes you?”
“The other day, a human brought me to his home. When he saw me, he screamed and called me a disgusting thing,” Rong Rong said, still a bit sad. “Am I disgusting?”
Jiang Yuan immediately shook her head. “Of course not, I think you are lovely.”
Hearing someone praise her for being lovely, Rong Rong felt much less sad.
“This bad human even wanted to throw me away. Fortunately, my master disagreed, so I didn’t have to be thrown away. But he didn’t care about my survival either and never fed me, so I almost starved to death.”
“Your master?” Jiang Yuan frowned her slender brows in confusion. “Isn’t this human your master? Do you know what his relationship is with your master?”
Rong Rong thought for a moment before answering. “He seems to be a dog that my master raised. It’s strange, he’s clearly a human, why did my master call him a dog?”
Jiang Yuan: “Is your master male or female?”
Rong Rong: “Male.”
Jiang Yuan was silent for a moment, then spoke again. “Rong Rong, this bad human is dead. Do you know that?”
“No,” Rong Rong slowly swayed its body.
Jiang Yuan pursed her lips, her hands clasped together supporting her chin, contemplation evident between her delicate brows.
At this moment, the conference room door was pushed open from the outside.
He Lewei walked in holding a tablet computer. “I checked the property surveillance. On May 21st, after you, Jiang Yuan, left Xie Yuchen’s home, fifty minutes later, a delivery person delivered a box to him. On the evening of May 22nd, he went out, and when he returned in the early hours of May 23rd, his state was very wrong. He hasn’t gone out since.”
Jiang Yuan took the tablet and looked through it, frowning. “I’ve known him for many years. This is the first time I’ve seen him like this.”
His expression was vacant, he looked lost, his footsteps were unsteady, and he staggered as if he had suffered a heavy blow.
“Something must have happened to him during those ten hours he was out,” Jiang Yuan looked at He Lewei. “Can you find out?”
“I’ll try,” He Lewei glanced at the little spider. “Any progress on your end?”
“Still asking,” Jiang Yuan said. “Currently, I only know that this spider wasn’t raised by Xie Yuchen. It should have been delivered to his home by a delivery person after I left that day.”
He Lewei nodded. “Alright, I’ll go investigate again.”
He turned and left the conference room.
Rong Rong listened to the humans’ conversation and curiously asked, “Are you investigating why that bad human died?”
Jiang Yuan: “Yes, we brought you here because we wanted to ask if you knew the specific situation.”
“Then ask,” Rong Rong liked her. “You are a good human, I’m willing to tell you, but I don’t know if it will be helpful.”
Jiang Yuan smiled, her tone gentle. “Do you remember what the bad human did yesterday?”
“Let me think,” Rong Rong said, then shuffled its eight legs, turning in circles as it recalled.
