In the police station hall, a woman in her fifties or sixties slumped on the floor, tearing at her clothes and weeping heart-rendingly.

“The investigation into the murderer is ongoing,” He Lewei said. “Ms. Kang, please get up first, and we can talk about it in the interrogation room.”
Only then did Ms. Kang take his hand and get up from the floor, asking eagerly, “What does this have to do with He Linwen?”
He Lewei led her to the interrogation room and called a colleague to help. Then he sat beside Ms. Kang and explained, “A citizen reported that He Linwen was disposing of a body by the lake, and the body the police recovered was Fang Mengyun.”

“Okay.” He Lewei looked at Xiao Xu, who gave him a slight nod.

“Kang Jiaoli.”
“Kang Jiaoli, what is your relationship with the deceased Fang Mengyun?”

“You said two months ago?” Ms. Kang frowned, “That’s not right. I remember He Linwen sent me photos of Yunyun last month.”
He Lewei: “Is that so? Would you mind showing us the chat history?”
“Yes.” Ms. Kang fumbled through her bag, found the chat history, and handed him her phone, “He also said he was cooking for Yunyun.”
He Lewei took the phone and saw that the chat history showed May 15th.
He Linwen had sent a photo of Fang Mengyun wearing pajamas, sitting on the sofa playing with her phone, and also photos of him cooking.
