Chapter 243: Innate True Qi
“Old Ghost, what does it mean when mortals practicing immortality talk about unblocking the Ren and Du meridians?”
Old Dog asked.
“That depends on your perception and how you understand it. Some say it refers to veins and arteries, but veins and arteries are already connected. Arteries carry oxygenated blood, originating from the heart and distributing it throughout the body, while veins carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart. This is a pattern of circulation.
Arterial blood is bright red, while venous blood is purplish-red. In medicine, arteries are generally depicted as red and veins as blue.
The flow of arterial blood is powered by the heart’s pulsations, resulting in high pressure. If it breaks, blood will spurt out.
Veins, on the other hand, are compressed by the calves and drawn back by the chest cavity, resulting in low pressure. If they break, it mostly manifests as oozing blood.
Veins have a valve-like structure called a venous valve, which allows blood to flow in only one direction, preventing deoxygenated blood from returning.
Arteries are buried deeper, so most infusions or blood draws are done from veins.
However, the Ren and Du meridians in cultivation are related to this, but not identical to it!”
“Some people like to cultivate Qi, using methods like increasing or decreasing pressure to accelerate or decelerate blood flow, thereby controlling the circulation of Qi and blood.
This is similar to my method of controlling emotions through thought control to cause changes in Qi and blood, but mine is more advanced. It doesn’t require specific breathing techniques or anything like that.
To unblock the Ren and Du meridians and achieve true heavenly circulation.
It is still best to return to oneness without thoughts, in an innate state, flowing naturally without thought or worry, like a child.
When a person is free of distracting thoughts, the primordial spirit automatically operates and adjusts the body, which is the state of innate True Qi automatically circulating.
With even a little bit of strength, not a single thought in your heart, you return to the innate state. The True Qi within the innate body naturally operates automatically.
What mortals talk about, complete and absolute relaxation of body and mind, is this.
How is this relaxation achieved? By having no thoughts, no sense of life and death or gains and losses, no dualistic opposition, also known as non-discrimination. Then, naturally, there is no confrontation or resistance.
Combine this with the body’s natural relaxation; the two operate simultaneously.
Many people use meditation to treat physical illnesses, relying on this state of complete relaxation of body and mind to achieve it.
Once the mind is focused, one’s own spirit naturally comes into play!
When cultivation has not yet reached this realm, then to achieve a similar effect, one must learn to change thoughts, practice gratitude, and let go. This leads to spiritual liberation and release of life. This release of life is freeing oneself!
Free yourself spiritually, do not get entangled with people, matters, or things, which generates various distracting thoughts and emotions. Calmly accept whatever comes. The timely turning of thoughts becomes key here.
For example, one of my elder brother’s clones, your Brother Wuyou, was on his way back from feeding fish in the park when he noticed a mosquito bite on the back of his hand. He smiled and joked, ‘Oh dear, a little mosquito came by for a meal today?’
The bite was very itchy, but he just scratched it a bit without paying much attention. After returning home, half of his hand swelled up like a big pig’s trotter, both itchy and somewhat painful. However, he didn’t get angry or resentful, and continued to joke, ‘Damn, did this mosquito sister forget to brush her teeth before coming to mooch a meal from me? Why is the poison so strong? Hahahaha.’
Wuyou’s hand was swollen for two days. The second night, he couldn’t sleep and was bored, so he used the sentient beings’ forms to form a thought: he saw the mosquito that bit him as his younger sister. If his sister bit her older brother, how could he resent her? How could he be angry? He even found it interesting and was very tolerant. At the same time, he thought, if his sister bit him and it became serious, he would seek treatment, but if it wasn’t serious, not looking into it was fine too.
His hand was very itchy, but he didn’t scratch it. He possessed this small amount of concentration.
After sleeping for more than six hours, the swollen bumps on his hand had mostly subsided, with only a little swelling and a red dot remaining.
His manifestation of sentient beings’ forms wasn’t imagined; he truly saw the mosquito that bit him as his sister, and he truly felt no resentment or anger, even finding his sister amusing.
Perhaps in the eyes of ordinary people, he might seem foolish or crazy? But that is absolutely not the case! Does getting angry or complaining help? No! Furthermore, generating such negative energy is more harmful than beneficial.
Just as he thought, if it became serious, he’d get it checked, and if not, it would heal in a couple of days. What’s there to be angry about if his own sister bites him a little?
But this also served as a reminder for him in the future. When he went out again, he would think about spraying some floral water, not harming other living beings while also avoiding such trouble. It wasn’t that he was stingy about letting them feed, but that his own blood contained life forms, and he couldn’t make such a sacrificial decision for his cells.
These two lines of thought seem contradictory! But he simultaneously solved the problem of not being troubled by the bite and the problem of being careful not to get bitten. I explained it in a complex way, but for him, it was simply a matter of forming two thoughts. And these two thoughts, in terms of their origin and outcome, were completely without right or wrong. Therefore, he wouldn’t dwell on what he should do or what was good or bad. With this kind of thinking where everything is right, there would be no dualistic opposition, no contradiction! This is freedom through going with the flow!
When your cultivation hasn’t reached a certain realm, you can refer to Wuyou’s way: be worry-free about everything, accept whatever comes, and directly resolve the problems you face spiritually! This will lead to resolution!
Once thoughts are liberated and resolved, the body and mind do not get entangled, relax, and are free of worries. With a relaxed body, everything develops in a positive direction! This is the application of the Dao!
It is also no different from the principle that a good mood brings good fortune!
“Elder Brother, regarding Brother Wuyou’s mindset, it’s not foolishness at all, but rather the ultimate expression of intelligence, isn’t it?” Xue Pan said.
I smiled; “Hehehehe, others laugh at my madness, while I laugh at their lack of understanding. I see no tombs of great heroes in Wuling, only flowers, wine, and farming the fields. In my own words, the meaning of this poem is to be at ease with oneself, unconstrained by external things.
With an open heart, I fear nothing. Suffering, pain, hardship, etc., can be let go of, and once seen through, at least halved. Whether human or immortal, fear nothing. The more you fear, the more concerns you have, which ironically leads to more trouble and worse outcomes. If you don’t fear and have no concerns, just do what you need to do, and everything will be fine.
For example, if you are sick, your mind should not be in opposition to the illness. If you oppose it, the more you observe it and the more you fear it, the worse the illness will become.
Accept whatever comes; you cannot escape it. The more you are troubled at such times, the more you consciously engage with the illness, the more difficult it becomes!
Be strong. Do not help this mind, do not help suffering, do not help illness. In this way, you can reduce the feeling of suffering and transform that suffering from within your heart, bringing yourself joy. How to find joy? When suffering arrives, think, ‘I am enduring my suffering, and it will no longer exist.’
A normal year of cultivation is not as beneficial as ten days of suffering. Once you overcome these ten days of suffering, it is equivalent to 360 days of cultivation.
When you visualize this in your heart, you become happy, which alleviates the suffering. Ordinary people, the more they suffer, the more troubled they become, and the more they help their suffering. Consequently, the illness worsens, and their suffering increases.
However, if you act like Wuyou, doing this often in life and cultivation, being patient with people and things, and changing your thoughts, then the matter will pass. After a period, the suffering will mostly disappear, and there will be no more suffering. This is called ‘bitterness ends, sweetness comes’!”
