Chapter 4: You Need The Future, And I Need You
Looking at that open room door, looking at Lin Xiuyuan, Jessica’s heart was extremely conflicted at this moment.
It had already taken all her courage to come into this living room before, and now you’re telling her she has to go further inside, so she took a step back.
Noticing her hesitation, Lin Xiuyuan smiled slightly and took the lead in stepping through the room door, with a thought in his mind to probe a bit.
Inside the apartment.
After discovering that Lin Xiuyuan had already gone inside, Jessica still stood frozen in place, not daring to move, and she hadn’t even closed the large door nearby, leaving it within arm’s reach.
That was a timely escape route to keep herself out of danger.
However, besides that, her mind was filled with all sorts of thoughts at this moment, and the one making the most noise was still that piece of text on the note.
She took a deep breath, pulled out the crumpled note, and unfolded it.
Her gaze fixed on the words above, silently pondering for a long while.
Finally, she pursed her lips, raised her hand to close the large door, and quickly walked toward that still-open room door.
However, just as she stood in front of that doorway, everything before her eyes instantly shattered her worldview!!!
……
……
The night was as dark as ink, and the bustling lights of Gangnam District spread out below, like a black velvet cloth inlaid with gems.
Jessica stood on the rooftop of this villa, with a gentle breeze brushing her face and lightly lifting the corners of her clothes. In the distance, the Han River wound like a silver ribbon, with neon lights from both banks reflecting on the water surface, shimmering like a dream.
At that moment, a voice came from behind her, “I didn’t buy any drinks, only beer and juice, mind?”
She turned back and saw Lin Xiuyuan holding two cans of drinks in his hand, his gaze teasing.
Jessica glanced at the beer in his hand and unhesitatingly reached out to take it, downing it in one go.
This action made Lin Xiuyuan involuntarily show a surprised expression.
However, Jessica had no mind to pay attention to him right now; after quickly pouring the beer down her throat, she couldn’t help but speak up, “So this is the future you mentioned? The world of another time-space, damn, this is too@#@…… unbelievable.”
“Indeed, my initial feeling was the same as yours.”
Lin Xiuyuan replied faintly, his gaze flickering slightly.
Then he walked to her side, leaned over the railing, and gazed at the distant night scene.
Jessica glanced sideways slightly, looking at this handsome boy, still full of disbelief on her face, her inner thoughts surging wildly.
After a while, she spoke, “Then how dare you just tell me like this? Aren’t you afraid I’ll inform? Then you’d probably be tied up to a research institute for slice and dice experiments.”
“You just saw that only I can open the door for you to return to the past. If you really have that thought, what’s the big deal about discarding one of the two time-spaces? But you’d lose your last chance to change fate.”
“That’s it?”
Jessica still couldn’t quite believe it, “So you’re betting such a huge secret on me?”
“Bet?”
Lin Xiuyuan looked down at the villa under his feet, “If you want to think of it that way, there’s no problem, but I prefer win-win cooperation.”
“What do you mean?”
“You need future intelligence, and I need you…”
At this point, Jessica furrowed her delicate eyebrows, looking at Lin Xiuyuan sharply with her eyes, though in reality, she had already thought of this idea inwardly.
She even already had plans on whether to agree or not.
It’s just that she never expected Lin Xiuyuan’s goal to be completely off from what she thought, “…money.”
“Money?”
Stunned, confused, dumbfounded.
The previous second she was furrowing her brows in doubt, and the next second she was completely dazed.
“Yeah, maybe you don’t know yet, although this time-space is mostly the same as the past, all the paths to make quick money are actually blocked. I figure if both time-spaces require struggling to achieve financial freedom, it’s better to find someone to cooperate with.”
Lin Xiuyuan’s answer left Jessica stunned for a long time, with various thoughts drifting through her mind.
Until a sedan roared past downstairs, bringing a gust of wind that pulled her thoughts back, then she looked at Lin Xiuyuan puzzledly, “If it’s purely for money, then why not find someone else? I don’t have much money.”
In Jessica’s view, her small savings were nothing compared to those real big shots.
And Lin Xiuyuan’s next answer made her laugh unexpectedly.
“I would like to find others, but you’re the richest person I’ve been able to contact in these twenty years; I can’t reach other rich people.”
At these words, Jessica laughed, “This reason of yours… so straightforward.”
“Facts are facts. Do you think in real life you can just casually run into those billionaires? Even if you see them, whether you can actually contact them is another issue.”
Jessica, listening quietly, nodded, “Indeed.”
“Not only that, the most, most, most important point is that if I approach those big shots, it’d probably be like scheming with a tiger. But with you, at least I can still have some leverage over you.”
After saying this, Lin Xiuyuan received a fierce glare from Jessica, along with tightly furrowed brows.
“What do you mean?”
“I just told you this is the 2025 time-space, but I haven’t had time to tell you what happens to you in the future.”
As Lin Xiuyuan said this, Jessica also gripped the beer can in her hand tightly.
With a creak, the can body deformed.
Hearing the sound, Lin Xiuyuan lowered his gaze for a glance, then continued smiling, “Don’t be nervous, anyway, it’s not good news, so just relax and listen.”
Jessica, already anxious, became even more restless after hearing this response.
“What do you mean, what do you mean it’s not good news.”
“Wait a sec, let me find the news.”
Lin Xiuyuan’s words made Jessica notice that he was holding a mobile phone at the moment, and its model was completely different from any she knew; as expected, it should be a mobile phone from this time-space.
And the scenes flickering on that screen repeatedly teased Jessica’s heart, forcing her to grit her teeth tightly, her mood as complex as a prisoner awaiting judgment.
Soon, Lin Xiuyuan spoke again, “Found it.”
Jessica raised her eyes.
“Let me see, September 30, 2014, Girls’ Generation member Jessica withdrawal from the team.”
“In 2015, Jessica founded her personal fashion brand BLANC & ECLARE, focusing on glasses, clothing and other design, and personally served as creative director.”
“In 2016, she returned as a solo singer, releasing her first mini album《With Love, J》, with the lead single《Fly》 topping multiple music charts.”
“In 2021, Jessica was exposed for owing 8 billion Korean Won due to poor operation of her personal brand, her boyfriend was pointed out as the actual investor, and rumors spread that she was scammed and bound by her boyfriend. Some public opinion questioned the connection between her withdrawal from the team motive and business decisions, believing she gave up her team career for love.”
“At the same time, due to the impact of Jessica’s withdrawal from the team incident, her sister Krystal was forced to leave the stage at the peak of her popularity, never returning to the stage since.”
