Chapter 133: Not Acting Spoiled, But Better Than Acting Spoiled
“When we get back to the capital, you can move in with me.” Jin Shi Yue’s warm palm caressed her back, his voice lazy and tinged with a hint of weariness.
Lian Li’s lower back felt soft from his kneading, and she couldn’t help but tremble slightly in his arms. “Do you have a cat at your place?”
“Do you like them?” Jin Shi Yue asked.
Lian Li said, “I’m allergic to cat fur.”
It wasn’t a matter of liking or disliking psychologically, but purely a physiological issue.
Jin Shi Yue’s hand moved down, his large palm cupping her hips and lifting her, holding her at his waist. He easily picked her up and strolled leisurely towards the bed.
Lian Li worried he might drop her, so her slender legs instinctively wrapped around his strong waist, and her hands hooked around his neck.
She realized belatedly that this posture was like holding a child.
She buried her face in his shoulder and discussed with him, “Out of seven days in a week, I’ll stay at your place for three days.”
“Is that okay?”
Her voice was emotionally flat, not like she was coaxing him.
But she had a good voice, and with a hint of sleepiness and a soft groan, it sounded more like coaxing than not.
Jin Shi Yue glanced sideways, his eyes falling on the fair skin of her neck. He added a condition: “And for those three days, you’ll do as I say?”
As he spoke, his hot breath brushed against her neck, tickling her and spreading inch by inch.
Lian Li curved her lips into a smile, not falling for it. “I won’t.”
Jin Shi Yue laid her down on the bed. Then, he knelt on one knee on the mattress and leaned over her.
The man’s tall body completely enveloped her, his dark eyes fixed on her, like a beast about to feast.
Lian Li’s long, dark hair was spread across the white quilt. Her bright eyes and white teeth, her fair skin like jade, and her rosy cherry lips, with a clear mist in the corners of her eyes.
She had a noble appearance that should be nurtured by love, and a stunning appearance that should believe in love.
Unfortunately, neither of those applied to her.
Jin Shi Yue propped himself above Lian Li, his palm rubbing the top of her head, and asked casually, “What time does the concert end tomorrow?”
“Nine-thirty,” Lian Li said. “Are you going to watch it?”
Jin Shi Yue raised an eyebrow. “You want me to go?”
If he went to the concert, he would most likely book the entire venue, and Lian Li disliked that.
She shook her head and told him to focus on his work.
After a night of playful banter, it was getting late.
Jin Shi Yue’s arm circled her slender waist, pulling her into his embrace. His long fingers pulled up the quilt and covered her.
Lian Li pressed against Jin Shi Yue’s bare chest. His partially exposed muscles were smooth and flowing. Compared to the intensity and coldness during their intimacy, he now had a bit more warmth and softness.
She tilted her face up to look at him, examining him carefully.
Beneath the man’s thick black bangs, his brow bones were deep-set, his eyelashes were dense and long, his nose was high and straight, and his lips were thin. His facial features had a cool, sharp outline.
However, the slight upward curve of his eyes added a touch of charm.
Jin Shi Yue let out a soft chuckle from his throat, the trailing sound ambiguously suggestive: “Want to do something to help you sleep?”
Lian Li’s face flushed. “No.”
Jin Shi Yue took her hand and placed it on his waist, letting her hold him. He tucked her long hair behind her back, his voice low and hoarse, “Then let’s sleep.”
The man’s body was warm. Lian Li snuggled into his embrace, feeling warmer and safer than when she burrowed into her quilt, and soon fell asleep.
Jin Shi Yue closed his eyes, inhaling the scent emanating from her. He too fell asleep shortly after.
However, his dreams seemed less peaceful than reality.
In his childhood, Jin Yan Ting was the most outstanding child in the eyes of all the elders. He displayed intelligence and emotional quotient far beyond his peers from a young age, and he was mature and steady. With Old Master Jin personally mentoring him, everyone liked him.
Jin Shi Yue had no opportunity to shine from a young age. He was raised by his parents. His father was often busy with work and rarely saw him. His mother, Chen Shifei, suffered from bipolar disorder and would sometimes lose control of her emotions, unintentionally hurting him, leaving him covered in scars.
To prevent others from seeing his injuries, his mother and the nanny often locked him in his room.
That day, Chen Shifei had an episode and broke a glass wall. The shards of glass scraped Jin Shi Yue’s face. The wound was not deep, but it stung indescribably.
At the family dinner that evening, Chen Shifei and the nanny confined him to his room after he was disfigured.
Jin Shi Yue sat in his room. The Band-Aid on his face had fallen off, and blood oozed out. He didn’t touch it, waiting for his mother to come and apply medicine and treat the wound.
He waited for a long time before finally seeing Chen Shifei’s figure.
Jin Shi Yue stood by the window of his room on the second floor. Because his mother had warned him not to let just anyone see him, he only left a small gap to peer down.
In the courtyard, Chen Shifei never looked back at her younger son. She was busy showing solicitous care and meticulous attention to her elder son, who rarely stayed by her side.
Watching the mother and son below, Jin Shi Yue felt a wave of sadness. His mother had never been so gentle with him.
He had always believed that he wasn’t as outstanding as his elder brother, which was why he wasn’t treated with gentleness.
But later, he realized he was wrong.
It was simply that no one welcomed his birth.
Six-year-old Jin Shi Yue watched with a blank expression as Chen Shifei spoke to Jin Yan Ting with a gentle smile.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jin Shi Yue looked at this scene, a cold smile on his handsome face, unfazed.
However, the scene, for some reason, suddenly shifted.
It transformed into Lian Li bending down, her expression tender and affectionate, gazing intently at Jin Yan Ting inside the car.
“Hiss…”
Lian Li woke up in the morning and saw Jin Shi Yue frowning. She reached out and gently smoothed his brow with her fingertip, but he unexpectedly grabbed her wrist. His grip was so strong it almost broke her hand.
Jin Shi Yue opened his eyes and saw her frowning, her small face looking exactly like the prelude to a tantrum.
He released her wrist and said in a hoarse voice, “Sorry.”
Just as Lian Li was about to confront him, she saw his indifferent expression and heard him apologize. Her anger deflated like a leaky balloon.
Never mind.
He was already beyond her imagination, so anything he did wasn’t strange.
Lian Li got up to wash up. Jin Shi Yue’s gaze followed her until she entered the bathroom.
After they both finished washing up, it was already eight-thirty.
Lian Li took a ribbon and tied her dark, slightly curly long hair back, forming a beautiful knot.
She turned around, and Jin Shi Yue had also changed. He wore a well-tailored satin shirt and trousers. He was a walking clothes rack, his superior physique and unique temperament making him look good in anything.
Just as Lian Li was about to ask him what he wanted to eat, a knock suddenly sounded at the door.
Jin Shi Yue glanced at her languidly. “Who is it?”
Lian Li: “I don’t know, I don’t have clairvoyance.”
At such a long distance, through the door, who could know who was knocking.
Lian Li started to go open the door, but as she brushed past him, Jin Shi Yue grabbed her by the back of her neck and pulled her back.
A faint smile played on his lips. “Want me to install one for you?”
Install clairvoyance?
This was modern society, not a science fiction movie. Where would they get clairvoyance to install for her?
“I don’t want it. If you want to install one, install it yourself.” Lian Li pushed his hand away; he had already messed up her hairstyle.
Knock, knock, knock.
The knocking sounded again.
Lian Li walked towards the door, intending to open it and see who it was.
After taking three steps, she stopped and looked back at the man behind her. “What are you following me for?”
