Chapter 236: A Gentle Kiss
Jin Shi Yue stared at her, raising an eyebrow lazily, “How can I help?”
Lian Li lowered her gaze to his bare chest, slowly raising her hands.
Jin Shi Yue let out a low scoff, his long arm wrapping around her waist, pulling her back into his embrace, “Don’t you want your hands anymore?”
Her skin was delicate and tender; her palms couldn’t withstand friction and would soon be red all over.
“That can’t be my fault, though. Who told you to be so…” Lian Li retorted.
The first time she helped him, although it was tiring, her experience with practicing the piano made it bearable. Who knew he would become so much harder to please.
Jin Shi Yue chuckled playfully, “Fine, it’s my fault.”
His arm around her waist tightened slightly, effortlessly flipping Lian Li over so she was entirely on top of him.
That area was too prominent. Lian Li wanted to move away, but Jin Shi Yue held her tighter, coaxing gently, “Be good, don’t move, let me hold you for a while.”
“Okay, I’ll let you hold me.”
Lian Li rested her cheek against his firm chest, hearing his powerful heartbeat, feeling both warm and incredibly safe.
Her legs pressed against the man’s long legs, her toes wiggled, brushing against his calf almost imperceptibly, as if playfully.
“Does it tickle?”
“Hard,” Jin Shi Yue slowly spat out a word, his voice carrying the hoarseness of just waking up and a certain unusual, husky desire.
Lian Li didn’t know why she immediately understood his meaning and dared not move.
Perhaps it was because their bodies were pressed so closely together, their reactions were clear to each other.
A few days before her physiological period, she would experience mild pain. Although she had been taking medicinal diets for months, her menstruation was regular and the flow had increased, the pain still arrived as scheduled.
Yesterday, she felt a faint pain, estimating that her period would arrive in the next two days.
During this vulnerable period, Jin Shi Yue also became more subdued with her.
Lian Li wasn’t worried about crushing him; he was so powerfully built and strong. If she could crush him, she would have done so long ago.
As early as when he taught her to ski, as early as when she accidentally kissed him in New York…
Lian Li’s clear eyes looked at Jin Shi Yue. The latter’s sword-like eyebrows furrowed slightly, his eyelids drooped, as if he were resting with his eyes closed.
Speaking of which, many things had happened this year.
A year ago, she was a graduating student, lost and ignorant about the future. Now, she had found her direction and determined her life’s goal.
A year ago, she was still trapped in the pain of searching for her mother. Now, her mother was found, and the shackles that bound her were also unlocked.
A year ago, she was still agonizingly waiting for Jin Yan Ting, certain he liked her because of his actions, yet also conflicted about whether he truly liked her because she couldn’t feel it. Now, Jin Yan Ting was a thing of the past. She had recognized her own heart and was happily lying in the arms of the person she liked.
As she was about to enter a new phase of her life, her heart was filled with infinite longing and infinite gratitude.
Lian Li tilted her face up and placed a gentle kiss on the man’s chin, then looked at him with a smile.
Jin Shi Yue lightly lifted his eyelids, his dark eyes sparkling with a smile as he looked at her.
Their eyes met, and they saw themselves in each other’s gaze.
Twenty-two-year-old Lian Li began to believe that miracles truly existed in the world.
–
Slept an extra hour.
Lian Li got up, washed up, and not wanting to go out, had breakfast with Jin Shi Yue in the restaurant.
Because of her remark that she wouldn’t be able to eat delicious Chinese food abroad, they had been eating Chinese food for all their meals since then.
Staying at home all the time wouldn’t do. Lian Li had casually mentioned wanting to visit a rocket launch and satellite launch site while watching a TV series, and Jin Shi Yue took her to visit the Aerospace Administration.
“Is it really okay?” Lian Li held Jin Shi Yue’s hand, looking at him worriedly. “I saw online that lingering nearby could get you arrested as a spy.”
Jin Shi Yue flicked her nose with his finger, his tone arrogant, “Who dares to arrest me?”
“That’s true.” Lian Li’s smile bloomed.
As they walked in, they were met by a Big Shot in his early fifties, wearing an aerospace engineer’s uniform. Lian Li remembered seeing him on television before and felt a surge of respect, her demeanor becoming much more deferential.
Jin Shi Yue observed her reaction and subtly curved his lips.
Lian Li probably didn’t know that one of the reasons Elder Mei valued her was because Professor Lu believed she had extraordinary talent and was highly likely to win a Fields Medal in the future.
Making outstanding contributions in mathematics, receiving international honors, working day and night with scientists, and bringing glory to the country were similar in nature.
“Do you want to sign a non-disclosure agreement?” Lian Li asked Jin Shi Yue in a low voice as they walked through the physical embodiment of aerospace.
“No need.” Jin Shi Yue tilted his head closer to her ear, lowering his voice seductively, “Tell them you’re my wife.”
Lian Li: “Really?”
Jin Shi Yue took in her reaction, his lips curling into a smile, “What do you think?”
“Fake.”
Lian Li looked intently the whole way, listening attentively to the engineer’s explanations. Jin Shi Yue’s gaze was fixed on her, and he always saw her bright, curious eyes.
One day later, after Lian Li had gained considerable prestige in the mathematics community, she would recall the situation at the time and understand the meaning conveyed by Jin Shi Yue’s actions.
She could explore the world freely and without restraint.
He was willing to support her and would always have her back.
After visiting the headquarters, they also visited the base, witnessing the brilliance of aerospace firsthand and feeling its magic.
Although they couldn’t take photos, Lian Li was in a very good mood.
On the way back, Jin Shi Yue walked behind her with his hands in his pockets, looking relaxed and at ease. Seeing her happily swaying ponytail, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
Lian Li loved beautiful things and liked high-end luxury goods like jewelry, but her happiness was far less than witnessing the astonishing world of aerospace firsthand.
She took a few steps forward, suddenly realizing the man beside her was gone. She immediately turned back and smiled at him, “Hurry up!”
Jin Shi Yue strode forward with his long legs, grabbed her hand, and squeezed it in his palm, asking with an ambiguous tone, “Do you think engineers who wear glasses are handsome?”
“Quite handsome,” Lian Li said. “A bit like the celebrity Fu Si Nian. Do you know Fu Si Nian? Chen Wei Qi’s ex-boyfriend.”
Second Young Master Jin didn’t even remember some highly respected Big Shots, so how could he know people from the entertainment industry?
He raised his hand and tapped her forehead, “Say it again, who is handsome?”
Lian Li was in a particularly good mood. Her mouth, usually sweet only to others, made an exception for him today. She smiled and said, “You are.”
Jin Shi Yue let out a soft hum and commented with mock seriousness, “Perfunctory.”
“Not perfunctory, I’m telling the truth.” Her words were sincere, she was almost ready to swear.
Lian Li’s birthday had coincided with New Year and Spring Festival before, so she hadn’t given Zhong Yang a chance to throw a birthday party. This time, going abroad, Zhong Yang insisted on throwing her a farewell party at a high-end club.
Lian Li accepted his kind offer and pulled Jin Shi Yue along to attend.
Jin Shi Yue had to meet an elder temporarily and wasn’t at Xi Shang Yuan, so Lian Li arranged to meet him at the clubhouse.
Li Shuangjie drove her to the clubhouse.
As soon as Lian Li sat down in the car, Li Shuangjie turned around and handed her a manila envelope.
Lian Li held the heavy document, asking in confusion, “What is this?”
