Chapter 127:
–
At seven in the morning, light streamed in from the balcony into the master bedroom, slanting across the foot of the bed.
Meng Shuyou opened her eyes prompted by her biological clock, habitually rolled over, and immediately felt soreness in her limbs, like the aftereffects of overexertion.
Her thoughts were still fuzzy and she hadn’t fully woken up when a warm, low, husky voice suddenly came from beside her, “Awake?”
Meng Shuyou froze, turned her head, and met the man’s bare chest. Her gaze traveled upward, their eyes locking, a flash of surprise crossed her face, “Why are you here?”
Pei Yuzhou reached out to wrap his arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace, “Where else should I be if not here?”
The elegant, faint cedar scent from his body wafted into her nose.
Their skin pressed against each other, intimately close.
Meng Shuyou reacted, her cheeks visibly flushing red, her gaze shifting away as she looked around.
This was his room.
“Then how did I end up here?”
Pei Yuzhou watched her ears gradually turn red, his fingertip pinching and toying with her earlobe, “Drunk and forgot everything from last night?”
Meng Shuyou’s eyelashes trembled as she tried hard to recall the previous night. She remembered leaving the club and going to a bar, then he called, and she got drunk.
Scattered memory fragments flashed through her mind, gradually piecing together.
Sure enough, alcohol emboldened her. She admired herself for having the courage to cry and make a fuss in front of Pei Yuzhou, even making him apologize, and he surprisingly didn’t abandon her.
“Remember now?” Pei Yuzhou observed the subtle changes in her expression.
Meng Shuyou denied it outright, “I blacked out from drinking, can’t remember.”
As long as she didn’t admit it, she could pretend it never happened.
Pei Yuzhou toyed with her hair, “Then let me help you recall, and settle the score while we’re at it.”
His expression was serious, “Do you know how bad your alcohol tolerance is? You took advantage of being drunk to kiss and grope me. Who would’ve thought you had such bold desires.”
Meng Shuyou’s pupils dilated, immediately retorting, “You’re twisting the facts. Clearly you kissed me first and dragged me into the bathroom…”
The words cut off abruptly midway.
Pei Yuzhou narrowed his eyes, his palm pressing against the back of her neck and stroking, “What did I drag you into the bathroom for? Didn’t you say you couldn’t remember?”
Meng Shuyou realized she’d fallen into his trap, silent for a few seconds before weakly defending herself, “I was drunk. You can’t hold a drunk person accountable.”
“You know your own alcohol tolerance and still dared to drink that much.” Pei Yuzhou scolded her, “What were you doing running off to a bar alone? Don’t you have any safety awareness?”
Meng Shuyou pursed her lips, saying softly, “I just wanted a place to wait for you, and I wasn’t drunk before you arrived.”
She only drank freely knowing he would come.
Pei Yuzhou pinched her cheek, “Couldn’t you wait at the club? Didn’t Mark tell you the private room number?”
Meng Shuyou’s eyelids drooped, she struggled free from his hand, “You were having dinner with someone else. I didn’t want to disturb you.”
If she’d known beforehand that Pei Yuzhou was dining with his grandfather, she wouldn’t have gone over.
“You knew?” Pei Yuzhou asked sharply, “Who told you?”
Meng Shuyou confessed, “I ran into your friend in the hall. She told me.”
Pei Yuzhou thought for a moment and knew who she meant, “You mean Jenny?”
“Yeah.” Meng Shuyou quietly scooted back a bit, away from the greatest source of danger.
The next moment, Pei Yuzhou pulled her back, “Who told you she’s my friend?”
His breath so close, Meng Shuyou couldn’t even speak properly, “Can you… not get so close…”
He was pressing against her leg.
Pei Yuzhou pressed down on her lower back, his adam’s apple bobbing, his voice low and husky, “Don’t move around.”
Meng Shuyou instantly stiffened, forcing herself to ignore the unusual sensation, “Isn’t she your friend? I heard your families have a good relationship.”
