Chapter 128:
“That’s the relationship between my grandfather and her grandfather. I’ve barely spoken a few words to her.” Pei Yuzhou asked: “What else did she say to you?”
“Nothing…” Meng Shuyou had no mind to chat with him, the atmosphere there was aggressive, “I want to get up. I have to go back to school in the afternoon.”
“Bought the flight ticket?”
“Mm.”
Pei Yuzhou deliberately pressed close without a gap, “It’s still early. Won’t you sleep a bit more?”
Meng Shuyou’s breathing hitched, “Can’t sleep.”
Being held like this, it would be strange if she could sleep.
She sat up and asked: “Didn’t you sleep in the next room last night? How did you come to the master bedroom?”
Pei Yuzhou’s thin lips curved slightly, “You wet the bed sheet. How could I sleep?”
Meng Shuyou’s ear roots heated up. She shouldn’t have asked.
Pei Yuzhou didn’t tease her anymore. He let go, got up from the bed, took the bathrobe from the bedside table and put it on, then went into the bathroom to shower.
Meng Shuyou breathed a sigh of relief, listening to the sound of rushing water from inside, and calmed her mind a bit.
After a moment, she got up, found a shirt of Pei Yuzhou’s and put it on, then went back to the next room to wash up and pack.
–
Breakfast was already ready in the kitchen, specially prepared in both Chinese style and Americano style.
Meng Shuyou changed into a white base shirt paired with wide-leg pants. The top was soft and close-fitting, with graceful curves, fresh and clean, enhancing her pure college girl vibe.
“Miss, good morning.” Tina greeted her.
Meng Shuyou nodded, “Good morning.”
Not seeing Pei Yuzhou come downstairs, Tina asked: “Mister hasn’t come down yet?”
“He might not be done yet.” Meng Shuyou took off the hair tie from her wrist and casually tied a low ponytail.
“Would you like to have breakfast first?”
“Mm.”
Tina went into the kitchen and brought out the Chinese style breakfast for her.
Meng Shuyou first drank a few sips of yogurt. She had drunk too much alcohol last night. Even though she had hangover soup, her stomach still felt a bit uncomfortable.
Tina turned to get something from the living room, then returned to the dining table, “By the way, miss, is this your leaf? Mr. Mark gave it to me last night and asked me to keep it and give it to you.”
Meng Shuyou looked up. Seeing this leaf reminded her of the series of silly things she had done, and a trace of embarrassment crossed her face, “Throw it away.”
Tina didn’t understand why it was brought back just to be thrown away, “The shape is quite special. I thought it was to make a specimen.”
Meng Shuyou brushed it off, “Just picked randomly.”
Tina was about to throw it in the trash can when suddenly a voice interrupted, “Why throw it away.”
Pei Yuzhou walked over and placed his hand on the back of the chair behind Meng Shuyou, leaning down slightly, “You insisted on picking it last night. Wouldn’t that be picking it for nothing?”
Meng Shuyou pursed her lips, “If not throwing it away, what to keep it for?”
“Making a specimen is indeed good.” Pei Yuzhou’s lip corner curved up, “It can remind you in the future how rowdy you get when drunk.”
Meng Shuyou: “…”
She knew he wasn’t up to any good.
Tina put the leaf away for now.
Meng Shuyou changed the subject, “Mister Pei, where’s the painting in my room?”
“Put it away.” Pei Yuzhou pulled out the chair next to him and sat down, “That’s already mine.”
Meng Shuyou bit into a soup dumpling and chewed slowly, “Do you really like it?”
“No confidence in your own painting?”
“No, it’s that your taste is too high.”
After all, what collection-level paintings hasn’t he seen? Her level probably wouldn’t catch his eye.
“My taste is indeed high.” Pei Yuzhou didn’t deny it, his gaze fixed straight on her face, “So what I take a fancy to must be the best.”
Meng Shuyou’s movement with the chopsticks paused slightly, her heart skipping a beat inexplicably.
Unsure if his words had other meanings.
