Chapter 3: Memories Stolen By The Newspaper Ghost
Scarlet Ghost Characters spread unchecked in Jiang Shan’s mind, the chilling cold to the extreme causing his thinking to begin stagnating, and his body to start stiffening.
But no one knew, not even Jiang Shan himself right now,
Just as the Ghost Characters were about to fill his brain, a fragment of Newspaper began emitting terrifying Supernatural power, stained with some dried blood.
Two kinds of Weirdness began colliding in Jiang Shan’s mind, his whole body emitting a weird red glow, his skin starting to tear.
“Ah! Aaaah!”
The confrontation between the two Fierce Ghosts tore every inch of flesh on Jiang Shan’s body, the ferocious wounds growing larger, Ghost Characters spreading out from the depths of the wounds, instantly covering Jiang Shan’s entire body.
The pain like being slowly sliced apart suddenly awakened Jiang Shan’s dazed consciousness, his originally deathly still gaze revealing a surprised expression.
He, who had been resigned to death, never expected that he could have a day of awakening!
He had just transmigrated to this Mysterious Revival world when he encountered the Newspaper Ghost at home,
In Jiang Shan’s understanding, a Fierce Ghost’s Killing Pattern and Killing Method were like programs running on code in a computer; as long as he grasped the Loophole, there might be a Ray of Hope under the inevitably deadly Pattern!
Facing a Fierce Ghost with Wisdom, having just transmigrated with no time to do anything, he could only bet that the Newspaper Ghost would only modify one person’s Memory.
And he himself had the memories of these two people in one body, so this was Jiang Shan’s last hope.
After the Newspaper Ghost stole the original body’s Memory and then possessed Jiang Shan’s body, he successfully Controlled this Fierce Ghost.
But Jiang Shan hadn’t expected that although he Controlled the Newspaper Ghost, his own Memory was stripped away by the Newspaper Ghost, forever imprisoned within it.
And before he lost consciousness,
Jiang Shan felt that the Newspaper Ghost actually restored the original body’s Memory back.
As expected, the original owner would replace Jiang Shan again and continue his life.
The Newspaper Ghost’s series of operations directly made it so that “the original owner died in vain, Jiang Shan transmigrated in vain.”
Jiang Shan, who had already accepted his fate, didn’t expect the Unexpected Change to come so fast!
He had actually really come back!
As the original owner’s Memory disappeared, everything happening to this body surged into Jiang Shan’s mind, but now was not the time for him to rejoice.
Jiang Shan gritted his teeth, carefully observing the Ghost Characters at the torn skin, his brain starting to race:
The Fierce Ghost triggering the Killing Pattern inside his body—Jiang Shan first named it Ghost Characters.
He glanced at the female classmate already dead on the ground; her whole body was stiff, her head rigidly tilted upward.
Jiang Shan noticed that her eyeballs were crawling with blood-red Ghost Characters, and there were also Ghost Characters appearing on the wound on her calf.
He was now certain that these Ghost Characters were like plagues and viruses; the difference was that Ghost Characters triggered in physical form inside the human body, causing instant death.
And because he Controlled the Newspaper Ghost inside him, he didn’t die instantly, and even showed signs of Controlling the Ghost Characters!
Thinking of this, Jiang Shan couldn’t help but feel fortunate; without the Newspaper Ghost’s Existence, he didn’t know how he could evade this Killing Pattern where touching it meant certain death.
This was a Fierce Ghost that had never appeared in Mysterious Revival; although he had prepared to face Fierce Ghosts, for this one he knew nothing about, his heart still couldn’t stop the Fear.
The Supernatural Confrontation between the Fierce Ghosts was still continuing,
The bone-piercing chill made Jiang Shan unable to move an inch; the stairwell was illuminated by the red glow emanating from his body, appearing exceptionally weird.
The Newspaper Ghost’s terrifying ability shocked Jiang Shan; it was actually modifying the Ghost Characters’ sure-kill Pattern, like a pyramid scheme organization’s Brainwashing of newcomers—the Ghost Characters that had originally filled his body truly disappeared bit by bit.
Jiang Shan felt that he was now gradually Controlling the Ghost Characters.
Along with this, Jiang Shan found he could increasingly clearly see what the wall-full of Ghost Characters at the stairwell entrance said,
But the more he looked, the colder his heart grew,
The entire wall was filled with one sentence:
“I am Jiang Shan. Tonight the Knocking Ghost will come to the School. I will die.”
Knocking Ghost!
Jiang Shan involuntarily thought of that Old Man wearing a black long robe, his whole body covered in Death Spots.
Although he was about to Control a second Ghost now, facing that terrifying Knocking Ghost, Jiang Shan still had no confidence he could Survive from its hands.
“It’s the same tone as Yang Jian’s Human Skin Paper.”
“Could these Ghost Characters be a Puzzle Piece of the Human Skin Paper?”
No time to explore this now,
When the wall-full of Ghost Characters completely disappeared and the red glow on his body slowly faded, Jiang Shan had fully Controlled this Fierce Ghost suspected to be a Puzzle Piece of the Human Skin Paper.
“Hurry and go, leave the School first.”
Although he didn’t know if the Knocking Ghost would really come, escaping this place of trouble was the safest course.
On the Sports Field outside the Teaching Building.
“Da da. Da”
The crisp footsteps made the crowd resting in the Gray Fog on the Sports Field instantly panic; they looked around nervously with tense expressions. A boy gasped heavily and said with a face full of Fear:
“Ghost! The Ghost is coming again!”
“Help, help! I can’t run anymore, I don’t want to die!”
His words made everyone’s hearts tremble, an atmosphere of Despair spreading among the crowd.
They had been frantically fleeing all this way, not knowing how many people they lost or trampled to death; in this Gray Fog, they had run until exhausted, now without even the strength to walk.
The Ghost was coming again—they didn’t want to die!
“Run! Keep running in the opposite direction of the sound! We can’t stand here waiting to die!”
Chen Yue, already drenched in sweat, spoke up,
Although she was now gasping for breath, recalling seeing Jiang Shan’s pale, ice-cold face in the stairwell made her hands tremble uncontrollably.
Just as she prepared to grit her teeth and keep running, she suddenly heard whispers:
“Have you noticed? The sound stops as soon as someone gets lost.”
The speaker was the class’s sports Committee Member Zhang Lei, over six feet tall with a muscular build, but now soaked in sweat; he whispered to the boys around him:
“Listen, has the sound stopped!”
“It’s true! Liu Shuang disappeared just now, and the sound really stopped!” a boy said excitedly.
The four gathered around Zhang Lei seemed to see a glimmer of hope, but Chen Yue, nearby, felt a strong Unease upon hearing their words.
As the crowd started fleeing frantically again, she watched Zhang Lei’s little group closely.
“Don’t push me, don’t push me!”
“Ah!.”
A female classmate let out a shrill scream, then fell heavily to the ground.
As expected!
Chen Yue saw madness in Zhang Lei’s eyes—they had been scared by the Ghost to the point of losing their humanity!
After the scream, the crisp footsteps really disappeared.
Zhang Lei gasped for breath, his face fierce as he stared at the crowd around him, silently counting in his mind:
“Twelve, thirteen.”
Excluding himself, there were still thirteen people to hold back the Ghost’s steps; then he could definitely escape, definitely Survive!
The crowd’s flight continued, but except for Chen Yue, no one knew they had become Chips for someone else’s Survival.
At this time,
Jiang Shan spotted the fleeing crowd; this Gray Fog seemed to have stripped their perception—even though Jiang Shan shouted loudly, not one turned back, as if they hadn’t heard.
There’s something wrong with this fog!
Jiang Shan’s heart tightened; he had Controlled the Ghost Characters, but this Gray Fog had never dissipated from beginning to end.
He had guessed this fog was just ordinary natural weather, but now
“Ghost Domain?”
Jiang Shan walked toward the crowd while muttering.
There’s a second Ghost in the School?!
Suddenly Jiang Shan thought of the rotten Human Face outside the window; the Ghost Characters involuntarily surfaced in his mind, forming a sentence:
“I am Jiang Shan. The Knocking Ghost is coming, the Dead Face Ghost is also coming. I am surely dead.”
This book has many original Ghosts; if there are shortcomings, please brothers post book reviews to point them out. I will seriously read them and make revisions. Thank you brothers for your help.
