Chapter 105: The Vanishing Demon-Quelling Banner
Sang Chu shook her head, “Everyone saved you; I couldn’t have done it alone.”
As she spoke, she glanced at the bare surroundings, sighed, and placed the unconscious little rabbit into the Jade Bracelet Space. Then, she struggled to stand and walked over to the child.
“Are we going down the mountain?”
The child shook his head, “The village is gone. Grandmother, Aunt Mei, and the others are in the Bell Tower.”
Sang Chu: “How could this happen?”
The child lowered his head and looked at his hands, “There’s a basement below the second floor. In the basement, there’s a large water bed, and inside the water bed lies a very terrifying monster. The villagers were all eaten by him, and that fish was eaten by him too.”
“What!”
Sang Chu exclaimed. She thought the Thunder Ghost Shark was already troublesome enough, but she didn’t expect there to be an even bigger one?
“What should we do then?”
“We need to find a way to get to the second floor of the Bell Tower. The Demon-Quelling Banners are all somewhere on the second floor, but they can’t be seen now. Aunt Mei and my Grandmother searched for a long time back then and couldn’t find them. The banner cloth used to draw the Demon-Quelling Banners is specially made. Even if I could draw it now, it probably wouldn’t have any effect. So, we need to find the Demon-Quelling Banners, piece them together completely, and then hang them on the top floor to complete the Formation.”
Sang Chu: “Shall we go now?”
The child nodded, and the two walked towards the Bell Tower. Passing through the village, they discovered it was already very desolate, with weeds almost taller than people.
Passing by his home, the child asked, “I once thought our family would live happily ever after, but I never expected…”
Sang Chu looked at the dejected child and said, “So, let’s at least let them leave this cage.”
“Thank you. I thought you would hide in a corner like everyone else, waiting for time to run out and then leave.”
Hearing this, Sang Chu suddenly looked at him, “Are you the one who posted the Mission?”
The child nodded, “Yes, I posted the Mission using that man’s body. He accidentally stumbled into the Bell Tower while looking for the missing child and eventually died in the Bell Tower. Later, his son also died. It was because of this that I was able to post the Mission through him on the Train. But he didn’t know about this, so most of the people who came in basically lost their clues at his place.”
After speaking, he couldn’t help but lower his head and slowly said, “Even if a few came to this place, they couldn’t find any clues, or they thought it was too troublesome and there was no Reward, so they found a safe place to stay and left when time was up.”
His tone was filled with unspeakable disappointment, likely from repeatedly hoping someone would come to save them, only for their wishes to be dashed each time.
Sang Chu: “I don’t know if I can help, but it’s always worth a try. Let’s work together.”
“Okay.”
The two entered the Bell Tower. This time, upon entering, they could clearly feel that the atmosphere inside was wrong. The child’s expression changed, “Th-that monster knows. We have to hurry!”
He quickly ran to the second floor, but many strange little fish, only about the size of a palm, ran up from downstairs. They were very fast.
The child grabbed Sang Chu and ran towards the second floor, “These fish are people who were eaten and turned into them. Their bite force is very strong. You can’t get bitten. Once bitten, you’ll turn into a monster just like them!”
Sang Chu: “Did you turn into that back then after being bitten?”
“Yes. Fortunately, Grandmother arrived in time and threw me out, so I wasn’t trapped in this place like them.”
The open space offered no escape. Sang Chu took out the Fire Jade Fan and swung it, instantly transforming it into a long whip burning with flames.
“If this continues, none of us will escape. You go find the Demon-Quelling Banner, and I’ll deal with these Fish Monsters.”
The child looked at Sang Chu in shock, “They are not easy to deal with!”
“I know, so you need to be quick. In my hometown, there are my Brother and Grandmother waiting for me, as well as many friends and family. I cannot die.”
The child looked at Sang Chu and nodded fiercely, “I know. Then I’ll trouble you. I’ll do my best!”
“And us!”
An Elder and Aunt Mei, who appeared from who knows where, suddenly appeared beside the child, “We can help too!”
Sang Chu looked at them in surprise, not understanding how they had suddenly appeared.
The Elder ‘looked’ at Sang Chu and said, “We’ve been waiting here all along. Thank you for being willing to help us. Leave the matter of the Demon-Quelling Banner to us!”
The child looked at his relatives from his memories with tears streaming down his face, “Grandmother, Aunt Mei, Aunt Liu, Aunt Feng, you’re all still here…”
Aunt Mei: “We’ve been guarding here all along. Your aunts are all here, don’t worry. This time, we will definitely be able to completely Seal the Fish Monsters and not let the Master’s efforts go to waste!”
Aunt Feng: “That’s right, little girl. Those little fish monsters will be your burden. We’ve already found the Demon-Quelling Banner; we just need to restore it!”
Sang Chu: “Okay, I’m here. I’ll try my best to stop them from coming up!”
As she spoke, Sang Chu had already reached the staircase. She used all her Crystal Cores and Spirit Stones to restore her Supernatural Ability as quickly as possible.
Led by Aunt Mei and the others, the child found the Demon-Quelling Banner.
“The Fish Monster was afraid the Demon-Quelling Banner would be discovered, so it controlled those ghostly things to hollow out the walls and stuff it in. Your Grandmother found it!”
Aunt Mei’s tone carried a hint of pride, as if she had found the Demon-Quelling Banner herself.
The child held his Grandmother’s hand, “Grandmother is so amazing!”
The Elder gently stroked the child’s head, “It’s our Xiao Xiao who’s amazing. These Demon-Quelling Banners will have to be pieced together by Xiao Xiao.”
The Demon-Quelling Banner was torn to pieces, making it very difficult to piece together. However, Xiao Xiao had memorized every diagram and text of the Demon-Quelling Banner over the years, so he could piece it together even if it was shattered.
But the more he pieced it together, the more he felt something was wrong, as if something was missing.
“Oh no, these Runes are incomplete. The most important banner diagram is missing!”
Aunt Mei: “Impossible. We searched all the walls, and this is all there is!”
The Elder said worriedly, “Could it be in the basement?”
Aunt Liu: “Possibly. We didn’t dare to go into the basement.”
Aunt Feng: “What do we do now? The Fish Monsters are blocking the stairs. Even if we go now, it’ll be too late!”
The child walked out carrying a large pile of pieced-together Demon-Quelling Banner fragments. He looked at Sang Chu, who was fighting, and shouted, “The Demon-Quelling Banner is missing some important diagrams and text. It’s probably in the basement. What do we do now?”
Sang Chu’s movements paused, and she was almost bitten by a Fish Monster. She quickly condensed a Wind Blade and threw it at it, splitting the monster in two.
“You all try to arrange what you have first. I’ll go down and look for what’s missing!”
