Chapter 238: Examination
Lin Shao Qing was somewhat lost in thought as he looked at the results from Lu Min Feng’s magic array.
【 Sang Chu, you’d best gather everyone and bring them here for examination immediately. There’s a problem with the Crystal Cores you’ve all been consuming! 】
Sang Chu, who was clearing out a cave where escapees had been discovered, heard Lin Shao Qing’s telepathic message and froze: 【 What problem? 】
Lin Shao Qing: 【 Lu Min Feng has an uncontrollable Power within him. If not handled properly, he will be controlled by this Power and eventually turn into a mindless monster. Sang Jing Wen also has this kind of Power, though it’s less obvious. Xiao Yi Fei is doing alright; he has the most of this Power, but it’s all moving downwards, gathering below his navel. 】
Sang Chu: 【 You mean, moving downwards? If Brother Yi’s Power moves downwards, it can be controlled, but Lu Min Feng’s Power is controlling him? 】
Lin Shao Qing looked at what the magic array displayed and shook his head: 【 It’s not that moving downwards guarantees control, but rather that it *might* lead to control. Xiao Yi Fei is controlling it very well. I will use him and Lu Min Feng for research later to figure out exactly why. For now, don’t bother them. Bring people over for examination as quickly as possible. If control is lost, they will become lunatics with surging Power. 】
【 Okay, I’m on it. 】
Sang Chu was shocked by Lin Shao Qing’s words. She had originally thought the most terrifying things in the Apocalypse were lack of Food and Zombies. But after she had Food, she realized Zombies weren’t much; it was the hidden Mutated Plants that were dangerous.
Yet now, she was being told that the Crystal Cores they thought would enhance their Power were the most deadly!
Sang Chu felt that the Purification operation was truly a chain of events, one after another. No wonder they said only a handful of people would survive.
A sense of powerlessness washed over her. After taking a deep breath, she exhaled heavily. Sang Chu pinched a Card between two fingers and released Xi Rui and Sai Yue.
“Xi Rui, take a Hellhound and head to this location.”
Sang Chu drew an area on her Optical Computer and simultaneously synced the location to Xi Rui’s Optical Computer.
“Sai Yue, you go this way.”
Then, she turned to Xue You, placed an Optical Computer on his hand, explained how to use it, and assigned him the last area: “You must patrol it in the shortest possible time, then control everyone and send them all to the Hospital. If anyone refuses examination, execute them on the spot.”
Xue You looked at Sang Chu, puzzled: “What happened?”
“There’s a hidden threat in the Base. I’m going to handle the announcement now. Starting tonight, we’ll create a Cold Attack. Is the scope limited to Hai Cheng okay?”
Xue You rolled his eyes at her speechlessly: “You’re really treating me like a Slave now!”
Sang Chu chuckled: “Sorry, once this busy period is over, I’ll give you a vacation and take you out to play. I’ll take you to the Otherworld next time.”
Xi Rui: “A Chu, I want to go too!”
The Otherworld was so fun, with so many Prey. She had made a fortune this time.
“Okay, once the hidden threat in Hai Cheng is resolved, I’ll take you all on the Otherworld trip together.”
Xue You: “Alright, let’s focus on the task at hand first. I, a dignified Ice Snow Great Demon King, am being made to act like a patrol soldier!”
Despite his words, he was the first to leave.
Sai Yue: “Master, I’m leaving too.”
“Mm, go. Be careful, and call me if anything happens.”
“Okay.”
After Sai Yue left, Xi Rui followed suit.
Sang Chu looked at the Corpses on the ground, collected them directly, and then took out a new House Building Machine, handing it to Tu You: “Rabbit, please handle the aftermath here. I’ll take these ordinary people to the Hospital first.”
Tu You: “Okay, be careful yourself. I have a feeling these Seeds are not friendly.”
“Mm.”
Perhaps it was because the Blood Moon was about to set, that the last hidden things were about to emerge.
After Sang Chu left, she immediately had these Magic Beasts drag the restrained people towards the Hospital.
“City Lord, why do you keep having these Magic Beasts restrain us? What wrong have we done!”
Someone in the crowd suddenly challenged Sang Chu, standing out among the trembling ordinary people. Sang Chu couldn’t be bothered to answer him.
The Magic Beast seemed to have received a silent answer and devoured the person in its claws.
In the quiet space, the sound of the Magic Beast chewing was piercing, making the already uneasy people even more fearful.
Sang Chu: “I don’t want to say much. As long as you behave, I guarantee you’ll be fine. But if you disobey, this person is your fate, and perhaps even worse. After all, you are few, and my Demonic Beast Legion is many.”
The implication was that being eaten by one Magic Beast might be a good outcome. If they caused more trouble, many Magic Beasts would fight over one person, and the outcome would be predictably tragic.
The emotions that had been stirred up by that person in the crowd instantly vanished. After finishing chewing the person, the Magic Beast spat out a red Seed.
“Wuu~”
The Magic Beast whimpered towards Sang Chu with a crying tone, then walked to Sang Chu’s side and rubbed against her arm as if seeking comfort.
Sang Chu: “You’re saying this Seed is very hard and you can’t bite it?”
‘Wuwu~~’
Hearing the Magic Beast, Sang Chu walked towards the Seed. But it seemed to have a consciousness of its own, and in an instant, it grew countless tiny Tentacles and frantically crawled towards the crowd.
“Cave, Ice Prison!”
Sang Chu sternly commanded. The area where the red Seed was instantly collapsed, and Ice quickly trapped it in the collapsed cage.
She slowly approached the Seed and saw it withering at an extremely fast rate, eventually turning into a pool of dry, rotten Branches.
Sang Chu didn’t dare to dispel the Ice Prison for a moment. This was a Supernatural Ability she had used her Spiritual Power for. This Seed couldn’t break through her prison.
Time passed slowly. Only when she was certain the Seed was dead did Sang Chu open the prison.
An indescribable stench of decay wafted over, so foul it was nauseating.
Sang Chu covered her nose and slowly walked closer. She saw that the Seed on the ground looked very similar to the roots that had grown from the Corpse, giving the impression that they were controlled by one entity.
A human face slowly appeared on the thumb-sized Seed. Sang Chu looked at the face: “This face looks so familiar?”
After a long time, she remembered. Wasn’t this the Neighbor from outside the Taoyuan Base?
That Neighbor Treant had many human faces on it, and this was one of them!
“Could it be that each human face is a Seed?” Sang Chu was terrified by her own thought: “My heavens, how many such Seeds are there in all of Hai Cheng!”
A chill ran down her Spine as she glanced at the entire Hai Shi, trembling all over.
Sang Chu’s Eyes slowly turned to the ordinary people who had been controlled. For the first time, she felt regret. They should have all been killed. Hidden threats should be nipped in the bud to prevent them from causing harm!
