Chapter 240: The Cold Attack Officially Arrives
The sky was filled with ice and snow, instantly covering the entire corridor. Xue You emerged from the snow, pulling Sang Chu into her magic array to shield them from the cold attack’s erosion.
The giant climbing tiger was covered by the heavy snow, losing its combat power, and the magic beasts were also put away by Sang Chu.
Xue You: “Where is this place? Why are there so many strange things?”
He led Sang Chu through the magic array, and wherever they went, the ice and snow automatically parted. Sang Chu squatted down and picked up a small section of a frostbitten branch.
She brought it to her nose and sniffed: “This thing…”
Xue You leaned over to sniff it, then quickly covered his nose and said with disgust: “What the heck, why does it stink so much!”
“I don’t know, it’s a very strange thing. Let’s walk forward.”
Xue You nodded and continued to lead Sang Chu forward.
“There’s no path.”
The two stopped in front of the mountain body, a massive rock mountain blocking their way.
Sang Chu: “Can we get past?”
Xue You reached out to feel: “It’s all mountain stone like this ahead. Do you want to go through?”
Sang Chu nodded. Xue You put an arm around her waist and instantly turned into a wisp of white mist, passing through a crevice in the mountain body.
The rocks were covered in ice and snow, and climbing tigers of various sizes grew on them, a very strange growth pattern.
Seeing Sang Chu constantly looking at the climbing tigers, Xue You glanced over curiously: “Huh?”
He stopped, holding Sang Chu, and the white mist around him dispersed, following the growth trend of the climbing tigers into the mountain body.
Xue You hadn’t noticed this corridor before because the climbing tigers were merely clinging to the mountain stones at the time, not hollowing them out and eating them.
“A Chu, these climbing tigers are very strange. The mucus on their suction cups seems to have a corrosive effect. The corridor just now was corroded by the liquid they secreted, and they opened it after eating the excess. I saw these climbing tigers when I was clearing out mutated plants!”
Sang Chu: “What!!!!”
Xue You frowned slightly: “I just thought these climbing tigers were a bit strange at the time and didn’t think much of it, because I didn’t detect any aura from them and didn’t feel any danger, so I didn’t pay attention. But if these are all disguises, and their mucus is so potent, then the underground is probably their territory now.”
It hadn’t been long since Xue You dealt with the mutated plants, and this one climbing tiger had already become like this. What about other places!
Sang Chu: “Let the cold attack commence officially. Focus on the underground.”
Xue You: “In that case, you should come with me to choose a place as our starting point. If we’re starting from underground, we need to find the deepest point and spread upwards from there.”
“Okay.”
Sang Chu followed Xue You around a corner, heading towards the earth’s core.
They passed through one winding passage after another, as if entering a vast underground labyrinth.
In this labyrinth, the climbing tigers were the kings!
Xue You: “So deep.”
Sang Chu, enveloped by Xue You’s white mist, looked at the rocks, soil, and corridor outside through the mist, her expression growing increasingly grim: “I’ll have Zuo Xue Feng ring the bell. These things must not be allowed to live!”
“Okay, then have them prepare. I’ll start immediately after I choose a place. The aura these plants give me is very bad, very dangerous!”
“Mhm.”
Sang Chu didn’t say anything, but she also felt that these giant climbing tigers were very dangerous, looking like monsters lurking in the darkness, always ready to hunt.
The temperature deep within the earth’s core gradually increased, and a strange scent permeated the air.
Sweat slid down Sang Chu’s forehead. Xue You looked at the panting Sang Chu with concern: “Are you alright?”
His steps continued forward. Sang Chu shook her head weakly: “I’m fine, just a bit short of oxygen. I’ll contact my big brother now. You be quick.”
“Okay!”
Hospital
Zuo Xue Feng was busy using house building machines to separate each hospital room individually.
Hua Xi: “Zuo Xue Feng, come here for a moment.”
“Coming right away.”
Zuo Xue Feng turned and walked towards the hospital’s reception. Hua Xi was operating an optical computer, and a map of the hospital instantly appeared: “This is the accommodation area. The cold attack that Sang Jing Wen and the others mentioned is expected around 9 PM, so you must return to your room before 9 PM. I heard this cold attack is very terrifying; it can freeze people to death.”
If someone had told him before that cold could instantly kill people, he wouldn’t have believed it. But since Sang Chu was the one saying it, he had no choice but to believe.
Having received the room key, Zuo Xue Feng said with a serious expression: “Don’t worry, I understand.”
‘Ding—’
A message arrived on the optical computer. Zuo Xue Feng froze for a moment upon hearing the sound, then remembered that he was no longer on Guang Star, and his former teammates who fought alongside him would no longer send him any messages.
Feeling dejected, Zuo Xue Feng lowered his head and operated the optical computer. The message popped up: 【Big Brother Zuo, go to the bell tower immediately and ring the bell, then activate the magic array as I told you before. The cold attack is coming early! 】
Zuo Xue Feng didn’t know what had happened, but he did as Sang Chu said. As he ran out, he sent a message to Sang Chu asking: 【Did something happen? 】
【There are many hidden dangers underground. It’s difficult to handle with human power alone. I need to clear out these dangers on a large scale, so I need the cold attack to arrive early. After you ring the bell, set up the formation and hide directly in the room in the bell tower. I’ll send a group message later to tell everyone to hide and not come out. 】
Zuo Xue Feng: 【Okay, I understand. Be careful yourself. 】
【Mhm. 】
The bell tower was built in the central plaza. When Zuo Xue Feng arrived, he saw a square building completely covered in magic patterns.
He took out a card with a key drawn on it and placed it in front of the building, as Sang Chu had instructed.
A white light flashed, and a door appeared.
Two round eyes opened on the door. It stared at Zuo Xue Feng for several seconds, then slowly opened its mouth. Zuo Xue Feng directly shoved the card inside.
A magic array instantly lit up on the card, and with a dazzling white light, Zuo Xue Feng found himself at the very top of the bell tower the next second.
Trembling, he quietly pulled his feet back from the edge of the building, stepped a little further inside, picked up a drumstick, and struck the stone drum beneath the great bell.
“Boom—”
The deafening drumbeats echoed throughout Hai Cheng. Zuo Xue Feng stood atop the tall bell tower, looking down at Hai Cheng. Although it was empty now, it didn’t stop him from seeing a city with infinite possibilities.
Hai Cheng was like daylight, with floating lamps flying around. Dragon Pearls used for lighting were placed on the ceiling above Hai Cheng, isolating the dark aura from the outside.
But as the drumbeats gradually faded, the Dragon Pearls were put into a strange box, the flying lamps left, and stopped working.
Night fell.
The cold attack followed.
