Chapter 66: The Lost Seagull Part 2
“Ol’, old me is the town chief of the town, ah no, I’m the town chief of the small town.
Plea’, may I ask who you all are…”
Seeing two burly men climb ashore from the sea, with arm-thick iron chains bound on their bodies connected all the way to the warship behind them, leaning on his cane the town chief was so shocked he couldn’t even speak properly.
Honestly speaking, their behavior actually counts as colluding with pirates, and if they ran into some navy who weren’t easy to talk to, they might get locked up directly.
“No need to fear, old man, we’re navy.
We’re hoping to rest here for a bit right now because we encountered a storm during our voyage.”
Zephyr tried his best to put on a kindly expression as he said.
“Hahaha! That’s right, we’re gonna rest up here for a bit!”
“By the way, old man, got any meat?”
Garp nearby chimed in bluntly too, his booming voice making the town chief’s neck shrink back a few more inches in fright.
“Garp, shut up!”
Zephyr helplessly turned back and yelled.
『Clearly we’ve both been rowing the boat for so long, why does this Garp guy still have so much energy to bounce around here?』
“Haha, old man, all our food got washed away by the waves, is there a restaurant in town?
Rest assured, we’ve brought Belly, we absolutely won’t eat and run.”
Zephyr said as he pulled out his just-dried wallet and unfolded it to show the town chief the crumpled Belly inside.
“Ye’, yes, that… this…” The old town chief was just too nervous, his words always coming out jumbled.
On one hand he feared things would be exposed and he and the people in town would all suffer.
On the other hand this was actually his first time seeing navy.
Two men with arms bigger than his whole body dragging a ship of soldiers looking like starving ghosts standing right in front of him, the aged old town chief had after all been a scholar before, when had he ever seen such a sight.
“You two, Grandpa Town Chief is getting on in years and it’s not convenient for him, may I receive you all instead?”
Just as the town chief was so nervous he was about to have a heart attack, an ethereal and gentle voice soothed the unease in his heart.
“Whoa! What a pretty girl! You’re the town chief’s granddaughter?
No way, how could this scrawny old man have such a pretty granddaughter.”
Garp’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Lapp, not just surprised by her looks, but also by a special aura on Lapp that made one feel warm and close.
“Garp! You’re too rude!”
Zephyr finally lost his patience and knocked a fist on Garp’s head, immediately raising a big bump.
“Ah… ouch ouch ouch~ Zephyr what’d you do that for?!”
Zephyr ignored Garp and crouched down to give Lapp a kind smile.
“Little one, are you the town chief’s family? Where are your dad and mom?”
『Garp, Zephyr, so they’re the navy’s admiral and the navy hero who defeated Rocks, no wonder their energy intensity is so high.』
Hearing their conversation, Lapp finally confirmed their identities; these two top navy combat powers had no low appearance rate in the World Economic Journal.
As early as when she heard the report from her subordinate pirates, Lapp had proactively locked onto the two warships with her energy vision.
And after seeing two energies no less than Kaido’s, Lapp gave up on the plan to sink them directly and chose not to actively conflict with these people.
She wasn’t like Kaido, having no real interest in battle herself, and taking on two at once wasn’t a wise move for Lapp right now either.
Her thoughts returning to the present, facing Zephyr’s question, Lapp answered truthfully:
“I have no blood relation to the town chief, and my father and mother aren’t in this world either.”
“I see…”
『Both parents passed away? What a pitiful child~』
Garp and Zephyr naturally misunderstood, and both couldn’t help but think of their own children.
Garp’s son Dragon was already over twenty, having become an excellent navy officer early on.
While Zephyr’s child had just been born not long ago and still couldn’t speak.
“What a strong child~ Then we’ll follow your arrangements from here on.”
Zephyr patted Lapp’s little head, encouraging her gently.
Then she looked toward the town chief who had stopped shaking.
“Town Chief old man, is that alright?”
“Yes yes, this child is very reliable, you can follow her with peace of mind.”
Hearing Lapp and Zephyr’s words, the old town chief finally let out a long breath; looks like he’d overestimated himself before, getting so nervous he couldn’t speak.
“Then follow me, I’ll take you to a few restaurants in town.”
Though she knew Zephyr’s attitude clearly came from some misunderstanding, Lapp didn’t mind and led the navy to the town.
……
“The town has a total of eleven restaurants, each with their own specialties.
Ingredients and environment are all guaranteed, so you don’t need to worry about hygiene.
Besides that there are some street stalls selling specialty snacks, you can buy some as snacks if you’re interested.”
Lapp walked ahead, introducing with her elf-like voice as she led the group, making the navy behind listen extra carefully.
“Now I’ll take you one by one, and you can choose based on your tastes.
But please don’t all crowd into one shop, the boss won’t be able to handle so many of you.”
“Got it, we understand.”
“No wonder Town Chief old man entrusted things to you, you’re indeed a reliable child.
Way more useful than certain adults who only yell about being hungry.”
Zephyr couldn’t help praising, then turned to command the navy soldiers behind:
“You all hear that!
Divide into ten squads by formation, each squad led by an officer to dine at one restaurant!
You’re all elites from headquarters, no shouting or yelling, disrupting order, or shaming the navy!
Understood!”
“Yes!”×n
Hearing the order, over two hundred navy soldiers and officers shuffled around and quickly formed squads.
Such a disciplined army really made Lapp look with new eyes.
『As expected of the navy’s admiral, looks like besides personal combat power, he’s got a real knack for commanding troops too.』
“Hey, Zephyr just relax, with this old man here nothing’ll go wrong.”
A certain vice admiral said indifferently while picking his nose.
“I’m talking about you!
Get over here, you and I are eating alone somewhere later!”
“Eh?! Why, this old man is hungry now!”
“Still asking why? Don’t you have any idea of your own appetite! If all the food ends up in your belly what’re the soldiers supposed to eat?!”
“Uh…”
Garp was speechless for the moment.
“Alright, this is the first restaurant.
The chef’s from the North Sea, specializes in sea beast meat, heavy flavors but big portions to fill you up.”
Lapp spoke up timely to ease Garp’s embarrassment.
“First squad, dine here.” Zephyr ordered.
“Yes”×11
“This is the second one, the head chef excels at seafood fried rice, generous portions but a bit pricey…”
“This is the third…”
……
“This is the last one, also the one I come to most often.
The shopkeeper’s from the West Sea, main chef Miss Lapp is a cook with rich creative talent.
The signature pineapple pizza and chocolate jam Syracuse noodles have quite unique flavors, and the signboard mille-feuille is delicious too.”
Lapp led the remaining Zephyr and Garp to the door of the Syracuse restaurant.
