The car windows were tinted, so it was impossible to see inside from the outside. Liancheng didn’t hide; she opened her eyes and stared intently at them, hoping to analyze something.

A nurse behind her spoke, “This is a sterile surgical procedure, please leave.”
The man drew a pistol from his waist, released the safety, and the crisp sound of a bullet being chambered rang out.
The doctor and nurses immediately raised their hands.
The man shifted the muzzle of his gun, gesturing towards Liancheng, “She doesn’t require a sterile environment. Please speed up.”
The operating room fell silent. After a few breaths, the anesthesiologist returned to the equipment, preparing the anesthesia, and the nurses continued to prepare gauze.
The doctor stood silently by the operating bed.
Liancheng went limp, staring straight up at the bright, glaring surgical light overhead.
It was the same light as those years ago, when Liang Chaosu forced her to undergo tubal ligation surgery.
Her entire life, twenty-two years.
The first eighteen years were happier because of him, and the following four years were filled with injustice and fragmentation because of him.
Finally, three months before her twenty-third birthday, she would die because of him.
