Chapter 302: Liang Chaosu’s Information
Su Chenghuai smiled.
Liang Chaosu’s four years of formidable fame had built up immense authority; wherever he was, he could deter anyone from acting rashly without even lifting a finger.
If he were to fall, they would be surrounded by wolves, with Liang Zhengping watching intently. Their best outcome would be unemployment, and they would inevitably end up accompanying Zhou Dazhi.
“So I took it upon myself to arrange your discharge from the hospital and to conceal your whereabouts. Your father couldn’t find you, and his suspicions grew, preventing him from acting rashly. This gave you the perfect opportunity for rest.”
Liang Chaosu instructed him to open the window, “This won’t last long. The EMA has sent people to Singapore.”
If Lin Xianzi dared to bring Liancheng back, Far East Pharmaceutical would have collected at least half of the evidence. Mo Shifu was not foolish; if he didn’t act now, Mo Shicheng would be left to die.
France was bathed in clear skies today, with a comfortable and pleasant sunset temperature, not cool at all. Su Chenghuai opened the window, about a hand’s width wide, and the sweet scent of lavender rushed in impatiently.
It flowed past him, following the path of the sunset, to Liang Chaosu’s bedside.
His entire face was veiled in the dusky, fragrant twilight, his features deep and rugged, yet so hidden and cold.
Like a falcon whose brave and proud spirit had been broken, or a tiger whose formidable and aggressive nature had been blunted.
It was not desolate, nor was it dispirited; there was no hidden sorrow of self-pity. It was an indescribable calm, like a self-sufficiency that had settled and been digested upon waking.
Su Chenghuai knew that Liang Chaosu did not need comfort; sympathy and pity were insults to him.
But humans are flesh and blood.
Liancheng’s ruthlessness had become so cutting and vicious in him.
Su Chenghuai hesitated to take the bait or to report.
Liang Chaosu, unsuspecting, exerted a third of his pressure, “When did my father go to see Mo Shifu?”
“Three days ago, the day after you fell unconscious,” Su Chenghuai replied, unable to disobey. “Director Liang, I don’t believe they will unite again. After what happened at the airport that day, they knew everything and were convinced you had already broken up with…”
Liang Chaosu’s eyes suddenly deepened.
Su Chenghuai thought he was referring to Liancheng, reopening a wound.
He earnestly advised, “In these past few days, Mo Shifu no longer worries about you becoming Lin Xianzi’s accomplice and has withdrawn his surveillance on the Liang Family’s funds. And after being betrayed, your father no longer trusts Mo Shifu. After clarifying the leverage he was sold out for, he returned to the country the same day.”
“Compared to… her, your crisis is more severe.”
Liang Zhengping was anxious to confirm his whereabouts, intending to gauge Liang Chaosu’s depth and lure him back to the country to use recordings to file a case and completely destroy him.
Liang Chaosu’s brow furrowed, as if he were contemplating something with gravity.
Su Chenghuai gritted his teeth, “You truly don’t need to worry about her. Lin Xianzi is also investigating your whereabouts. Once she confirmed you didn’t go to Singapore, she was overjoyed and high-profilely attended a banquet, meeting with Mo family relatives and parading with the young ladies and gentlemen of her generation.”
“Even her illness has improved; she’s more lively than if she were never sick, which has greatly benefited Lin Xianzi’s situation. Mo Shifu has backed down somewhat and repeatedly tried to invite her back to the Mo family, but she has refused.”
“I hear it,” Liang Chaosu glanced at him, “You hate her to the extreme.”
His gaze was deep and piercing, silencing Su Chenghuai.
Liang Chaosu waved his hand, “Arrange an online meeting immediately. After that, you will resign from your position at Liang’s and focus solely on overseas matters.”
Su Chenghuai’s pupils seized, his face turned pale.
“Resentful?” Liang Chaosu’s coldness intensified. “Your emotions are too strong and have clouded your judgment. If my father knew everything about what happened at the airport, his first move would be to seek cooperation. No matter who the other party was, as long as they could get him out of the country before the thunderous action from above.”
Su Chenghuai was startled, his expression crestfallen.
“And she is my personal private matter. When you despise her, you are actually despising me. Su Chenghuai, you are employed by me, and I believe I have not let you down in terms of money, status, or your resume. I have also clearly told you about your future prospects; if Liang’s falls, there is still overseas. If overseas is gone, I will push you towards the Huang family.”
“I’m not afraid of my future prospects; I feel it’s not worth it for you.”
“Do I need it?”
Su Chenghuai remained silent.
He actually knew deeply that Liang Chaosu’s brilliant and glorious career had begun with Liancheng. He also knew it, but understood it even less.
Xiao Da said that such a beginning, such a method, was a bottom-line shattering, unforgivable mistake for a woman, with no possibility of reconciliation.
To persist at this point would be a visible demise.
“Are you still going to look for her?”
“No.”
Su Chenghuai looked up in astonishment.
After exiting the room, he was invigorated and went to find Xiao Da.
Xiao Da was standing at the corner of the corridor, stunned, staring at his mobile phone. His footsteps were not light; he was only two steps away, yet Xiao Da hadn’t noticed at all.
Su Chenghuai narrowed his eyes and peeked.
On the screen was a friend request.
From Bai Ying.
………………………………
An hour had passed since Bai Ying sent the friend request, and Xiao Da had not accepted it.
She threw down her phone and counted the time difference on her fingers; it was early morning in Singapore, and evening in Europe.
Within the same time zone as China, there was no time difference.
If Xiao Da were in China, at this hour, Liang Chaosu was a patient, and the medical staff would certainly be monitoring his sleep. If the boss was resting, Xiao Da should also be asleep.
Hurried footsteps sounded in the corridor, deliberately quieted, yet frantic. They brushed past the doorway and knocked on Feng Shien’s door next door.
“Shi En, my people are following Liang Zhengping and have discovered Gu Zhoushan. I’m entrusting Liancheng to your care tonight; I’ll be back before noon tomorrow.”
It was Lin Xianzi.
Bai Ying scrambled up. In the Hong Kong kidnapping case, Lian Yingying had escaped early, but Gu Zhoushan had disappeared afterward.
The special task force, which had united two provinces in the country, had a major leak under their noses. It was said that within the public security system, the two provinces of Nan and Qi had lost face and were still unable to hold their heads up.
Lin Xianzi had always suspected that Mo Shifu was likely hiding him. This time, Liang Zhengping’s indignant return from Singapore seemed like he had turned into sworn enemies with Mo Shifu.
The Lin family had been watching Liang Zhengping, and indeed, they had found something.
She put on her clothes and knocked on Liancheng’s door before Feng Shien did.
“Who?”
Bai Ying, as if speaking a secret code, whispered slyly, “Me.”
Soft footsteps from behind the door approached.
Liancheng poked her head out. The corridor light illuminated her forehead, which was beaded with sweat, and her face was pale.
Bai Ying squeezed into the room and wiped her sweat. “Why are you in so much pain? Wasn’t Aunt Lin in your room just now? Did the hot water bottle and electric knee pad help?”
Liancheng shook her head. “My mom is in the study. When she came in, I didn’t have time to turn on the lights, and she left thinking I was asleep.”
“Gu Zhoushan has been found, did you hear that?”
Liancheng was also excited, and the two of them lay back on the bed.
The painkillers prescribed by the doctor had a dosage limit, and Bai Ying, being a doctor, knew the dangers of exceeding it. At this moment, under the covers, she futilely tried to warm the painful area with her hand.
“Liancheng.”
Feng Shien’s voice was soft from outside the door. He didn’t knock, afraid Liancheng was asleep, and afraid she was in pain but enduring it without calling out. Hesitantly, he made a probing sound.
“He doesn’t understand you.”
Bai Ying said with a slight air of triumph, “As soon as Aunt Lin’s footsteps sounded, I concluded that your little cat’s sleep would surely be disturbed.”
Liancheng smiled and pushed her away, replying loudly, “Bai Ying is here, you can rest assured. Hurry back and get some rest.”
“Open the door,” Feng Shien’s tone was gentle, as if coaxing her. “I’ve been busy non-stop these past few days. Seeing you will put my mind at ease.”
