Chapter 181: Watching A Movie
The people who got off the tractor scattered.
Yun Jiao held hands with her older brothers, Yun Xiao Wu and others, following behind her father, watching him go to buy fishing net string, fishing line, and fish hooks.
The fishing nets and such at home had worn out and needed to be bought and mended.
Seeing Yun Linhai and the others talking with the boss, you could tell they were regulars here.
Yun Jiao wandered around inside, but finding nothing of interest, she returned to her brothers’ side.
“Dad, we’re taking Jiao Jiao across to buy some things.”
There was a small stall across the way where he saw glass marbles.
“Be careful, don’t run too far.”
After all, she was already ten years old and could go to school by herself; Yun Linhai didn’t restrict them too much.
Several children ran to the stall across the way to pick and choose; there were not only glass marbles but also picture cards.
Yun Jiao saw a large house not far away, and as many people were going inside, she couldn’t help but be curious.
“Brother, what’s that place over there for?”
Yun Xiao Wu glanced over and said enviously, “That’s a movie theater, where you can watch movies.”
Yun Xiao Liu and the others were also envious; movies, they really wanted to watch them too.
“When I have money, I’ll take you to watch a movie.”
Yun Xiao Wu patted his chest and promised.
Yun Jiao: “I have money.”
It was market day today, and Grandma had given her thirty yuan when they left home.
For these children, it was truly a huge sum.
Yun Xiao Jiu’s eyes lit up instantly: “Then let’s go watch a movie now?”
Yun Xiao Wu hesitated: “Will Dad let us go?”
“Let’s ask.”
After buying new marbles and picture cards, they went back to find Yun Linhai and Yun Linhe.
“Dad, we want to go watch a movie.”
“Jiao Jiao wants to watch too.”
Based on past experience, just saying they wanted to watch would definitely result in a scolding.
But if they said Jiao Jiao wanted to watch, their father would be much more lenient.
As expected, Yun Linhai lowered the hand he had raised to hit Yun Xiao Wu’s head.
Yun Xiao Wu pouted, pulling his sister along, “Dad is biased.”
“Jiao Jiao wants to watch a movie?”
Yun Jiao blinked her big eyes: “Mm-hmm, Jiao Jiao is curious, what is a movie?”
“Is it better-looking than the television at Uncle Village Chief’s house?”
Yun Linhai stroked her head affectionately: “It’s similar to television, but there are differences; the movie screen is very large, and you can see more clearly.”
“Wow… then Jiao Jiao wants to watch.”
Yun Linhai wasn’t concerned about the cost of movie tickets, but they still had things to do and no time to waste at the movie theater with Jiao Jiao.
Yun Linhe: “Brother, why don’t I take them to watch the movie, and you go buy the things and we’ll meet here later.”
Yun Xiao Wu immediately understood what his father was worried about. He thumped his chest and assured him with a resolute expression:
“No need, we’ll take care of Jiao Jiao. We’re all big kids and won’t get lost, and we’ll look after Jiao Jiao too.”
Yun Linhai glanced at them: “You are the ones I worry about the most!”
Yun Jiao: “Dad, Uncle, Jiao Jiao will go with her brothers.”
Their father and the others had bought quite a lot of things today; she worried her father couldn’t carry it all alone.
Yun Jiao’s little face was full of confidence: “Jiao Jiao will protect her brothers.”
Yun Linhai: …
Although he found it a bit strange, he inexplicably felt that if something truly happened, it would indeed be his daughter who would have to protect those useless sons and nephews.
“Alright, then you go by yourselves. When you’re done, come out and wait at the movie theater entrance. Don’t run around.”
Yun Jiao nodded: “Got it, Jiao Jiao will be good.”
Yun Linhai took them to the movie theater, bought tickets, and then watched them happily enter.
Yun Jiao and the others were watching an animated movie: Journey to the West.
It was also the children’s favorite.
After arriving at the movie theater, they found their corresponding seats. There were no adjacent seats; two people in the middle separated them. Yun Xiao Wu and the others were clever; after negotiating with those two, they switched seats, and the brothers, along with Yun Jiao, happily sat together.
When the movie started, the large screen and the much-improved picture quality compared to television amazed Yun Jiao.
As the story began, Yun Jiao watched intently.
Yun Xiao Qi, while watching, suddenly said something to his brothers and then got up, ducking low as he left.
When he returned, he was carrying a bag of popcorn and a bag of sunflower seeds.
“Jiao Jiao.”
Yun Jiao heard her brother’s voice and turned her head, only to have her mouth stuffed with fragrant popcorn, her eyes instantly lighting up.
The first bite was crisp.
“Hey, tasty, right? I saw someone eating it, and when I went outside, I found they were selling it.”
They ate while watching the movie.
The movie plot was wonderful, especially for children at this age.
They were all mesmerized.
After watching one showing, they still felt like they hadn’t seen enough.
“Sun Wukong is truly amazing, wielding the Golden Cudgel to fight demons and monsters.”
Boys especially loved such fantastical stories filled with monster-fighting journeys.
After the movie, they were completely captivated by the character of Sun Wukong and even imitated some of his actions, jumping around.
After leaving the movie theater, they saw that at the surrounding stalls, there were even Golden Cugels!
Although these Golden Cugels were made of plastic foam, they were enough to attract these children who had just watched a Journey to the West movie.
However, they had no money left and could only watch with longing eyes.
Yun Jiao patted her chest: “I have money!”
The little rich woman was generous, buying Golden Cugels for all her older brothers, as well as shiny golden fillet bands.
“Jiao Jiao.”
Yun Xiao Ba suddenly looked at Yun Jiao with longing eyes, pointing at the watercolor pens on the stall and stammering.
“Can, can you buy a box of watercolor pens for your brother?”
He really coveted them.
Yun Jiao waved her little hand: “Buy it!”
The stall owner had a very enthusiastic smile on his face, as a box of watercolor pens wasn’t cheap, costing one yuan.
Oh my, this little girl is not only good-looking but also truly generous.
But… are these children siblings? Why is the money managed by the little girl?
Holding the watercolor pens, Yun Xiao Ba’s eyes were bright.
“Jiao Jiao, don’t worry, when I earn money, I’ll pay you back.”
Yun Jiao pouted: “It’s for my brothers, no need to pay back.”
Yun Xiao Ba thought for a moment: “Then I’ll draw when I get back and give you my best drawing.”
That’s right, Yun Xiao Ba wanted these watercolor pens to draw with when he returned.
He really liked drawing things in his textbooks and homework notebooks.
But he only used pencils.
He wanted to add color to those drawings.
Their father and uncle hadn’t arrived yet, so the children found a clean step to sit on and tore open a bag of snacks to share.
Suddenly, Yun Jiao spotted a familiar person.
She stood up and ran over.
“Jiao Jiao, where are you going?”
“Grandma.”
Yun Jiao pointed to an elderly person walking ahead and hurried over to hold her hand.
“Grandma, why are you here? Are you alone?”
The elderly person looked down, their eyes full of confusion.
Upon seeing Yun Jiao, their eyes lit up.
“Nannan, Nannan…”
Yun Xiao Wu and the others ran over.
“Grandma, these are my older brothers.”
