Chapter 28: Little Thoughts
Yin Lingyan couldn’t understand the deep meaning in his eyes, unsure if it was heartache or surprise, both of which he quickly concealed.
Yin Lingyan lowered her head, not daring to meet Father Yin’s direct gaze.
Because Han Wuyu’s enterprise seemed to be larger, Father Yin didn’t dare to provoke him too much in the business world. Father Yin left without a word, and the mistake at the engagement banquet seemed to have reached a conclusion because of her…
The Yin family showed no reaction, instead calmly accepting this outcome. It was unclear if this was just settling scores later. Yin Chuchu was sent to the hospital, while the engagement banquet continued.
Han Wuyu and Yin Lingyan walked onto the stage hand in hand, holding the microphone. “I believe everyone misheard. My fiancée is the one beside me, named Yin Lingyan.”
After Han Wuyu spoke, the reporters frantically picked apart his words. Han Wuyu’s eyes turned cold, he signaled to someone hidden in the darkness, and then, holding Yin Lingyan’s hand, he placed the engagement ring on her finger.
“Ah?” Yin Lingyan was still in disbelief after he put the ring on her finger. Wasn’t this supposed to be a fake engagement?
“What ‘ah,’ it’s not marriage,” Han Wuyu said helplessly. He glanced at his hand, signaling her to put the ring on him.
Yin Lingyan couldn’t make too much of a scene in front of everyone, so she could only grit her teeth and steadily place the engagement ring on his hand.
The ring sparkled so brightly under the light. Mother Han smiled with gratification, because these two rings were unique in the world, and to take them off… hehehe!!
Mother Han cackled inwardly. Who could guess her little scheme?
As soon as the rings were on, thunderous applause erupted. Han Wuyu glanced around and saw that there seemed to be no reporters left. He then nodded with satisfaction towards the darkness, a movement that went unnoticed.
There was a lot of delicious food at the engagement banquet. Yin Lingyan looked a bit greedy; she hadn’t eaten for almost a day, and her stomach rumbled embarrassingly at that moment.
“Hungry?”
“A… a little.” Yin Lingyan nodded awkwardly.
And so, this man, like an iceberg, let her sit alone while he went to get her food.
Mother Han also walked over at this time. “Lingyan, you don’t mind me calling you that, do you?”
Upon hearing this, Yin Lingyan shook her head and said to Mother Han with a smile, “I don’t mind, Aunt Han.”
Hearing her polite reply, Mother Han stared at Yin Lingyan with her eyes, nodding with satisfaction. Yin Lingyan allowed herself to be scrutinized like this, as it was just a pretense with him anyway. If Mother Han wasn’t satisfied, it wouldn’t matter to her.
“Marry Wuyu after you graduate,” Mother Han suddenly said, almost making Yin Lingyan react drastically.
Considering the crowd, Yin Lingyan could only force a smile. “Hehe, this… let’s talk about it after graduation.” But her inner thought was: It’s a problem whether I can even see him after graduation, let alone get married.
Her mischievous and clever expression, reflecting her thoughts, was genuinely displayed before Mother Han.
Her generous and natural demeanor further endeared her to Mother Han. Mother Han watched Han Wuyu approach with food, wisely excused herself, and went to greet other shareholders.
“Here…”
Han Wuyu handed Yin Lingyan the food tray. Yin Lingyan took it, and looking at the delicious food, her expression was such that she was practically about to devour it.
“What did my mom say to you just now?” Han Wuyu was also annoyed by this thought. Why would she say something only when he wasn’t around?
Yin Lingyan was startled. Remembering Mother Han’s words, she honestly told him, “She said we should get married after graduation…”
