Ultra Mage: The Weave Crashed Again at the Start – Chapter 137

Dragon Slayer

Chapter 137: Dragon Slayer

“Huh, Dragon Legacy?” Anse seemed to have heard this term before, yet it felt somewhat unfamiliar.

He did indeed perceive a unique magical power landing on him, which was then absorbed into the Dice.

The most exciting part was the Level Up; reaching level 7 allowed him to master Fourth-Circle Spells and new Class Features, a significant boost in Strength.

It was worth all his scheming to steal the killing blow.

But now was not the time to think about that; the others had no Combat notifications and didn’t know the Black Dragon was already dead, so they kept beating it.

“Stop, stop, it’s already dead!” he quickly shouted.

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately stopped, panting heavily a few times as their excited emotions gradually calmed down.

Ancient Moss released its hands, and the dragon head slammed onto the ground with a bang, blood flowing from its eyes, its face even more ferocious and terrifying.

For a moment, no one spoke; everyone just stared dazedly at the Black Dragon.

“Did we slay the dragon?” Halfling Colin slowly approached, stroking the dark dragon scales, his expression dazed.

“Heh, the word ‘we’ is used so cleverly, you don’t even care about face anymore.” Brat came back to his senses, pursing his lips and imitating Colin’s tone, “We’re so awesome!”

“Haha…” Anse smiled faintly, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

As they laughed, everyone’s mood gradually relaxed; the earlier battle had been quite dangerous, and Amn’s Professional team was indeed very strong.

“How should we handle this Black Dragon corpse?” Salian looked at Anse, though his peripheral vision kept glancing at Illyas nearby.

Their side was indeed the main force in killing the Black Dragon, but the entire battle was interconnected; no one could overlook Dulag and Jacqueline Castle’s contributions.

Especially this female Castle Lord, who at the critical moment supported Anse, interrupting the Anti-Magic Domain, then sending down streams of meteors that sent hundreds of soldiers fleeing in disarray, preventing the enemies from surrounding Anse.

Therefore, ownership of the Black Dragon became a big Problem.

Anse had also thought of this, but felt there was no need to discuss distribution now.

He looked at Illyas and asked, “Do you have any good ideas?”

“Your method of handling it is too wasteful; my castle basement has a Magic Vault that can preserve it, and it won’t spoil for months.” Illyas looked at Anse with a half-smile, “You wouldn’t… not trust me, would you?”

“Of course not.” Anse chuckled lightly, his expression serious.

Choices made in Combat best reflect a person’s character. The moment Illyas risked danger to save him, she had earned his approval.

Illyas giggled, her smile radiant: “I can’t fit it; you bring it.”

She had seen the Treant’s entry method before, so she knew he had this ability.

“I’ll stop the bleeding first.” Anse agreed, circling the Black Dragon and casting Ray of Frost to seal the still-bleeding wounds, to avoid waste.

The others excitedly helped turn over the corpse to check for anything missed.

Quentin was especially meticulous, calling over a squad of Guards to pick up fallen Dragon Scales and flesh, and even marking the soil soaked with Dragon Blood, apparently planning to have someone dig it all up.

He wanted to give all these scraps to Anse, but Anse flatly refused; those bits could stay with them as Combat participation benefits, and the Dragon Scales could serve as a memento of slaying the dragon.

After staunching the Black Dragon’s bleeding, Anse applied a Magic Seal to it and stored the entire thing into Hollewen.

Treant Guta and the two Animated Trees were also sent back to watch over the Black Dragon corpse—not out of fear of damage, but because the dragon’s flesh and blood weren’t safe; accidental contact could cause injury.

The others stayed to clean the Battlefield and gather Loot.

Amn’s Professionals had left behind plenty of good stuff that couldn’t be missed.

After bustling for half a day, the Sun was high in the sky, the temperature rising, and the smell on the Battlefield growing increasingly foul.

There was a huge amount of Loot; just the Muskets, Ammunition, and various Weapon Equipment formed a big pile, hard to carry.

Anse had no choice but to work harder, temporarily storing all the Things into Hollewen, and sending Salian and the others back together to rest.

Quentin checked for anything missed and only then nodded in satisfaction, ordering the return.

The soldiers escorted the captives on the return journey, all exceedingly excited and not feeling tired at all.

Anse boarded Illyas’s Flying Carpet, and the two left first.

He had checked with the Telescope earlier; Amn’s camp showed no movement, probably abandoned.

Back at Jacqueline Castle, Illyas led him straight underground.

Below the Castle were two more levels: the first was a common Basement and Ice Cellar, the second the Magic Vault.

They went down the Stairs and through the Door to a pair of bronze Metal Doors five meters high, covered in intricate silver Magic Arrays and enveloped in a Mana barrier.

Illyas touched the door, sending ripples of Mana through it, and then the doors slowly opened.

She stepped inside and softly explained, “My great-grandmother was a learned Archmage; this was built under her supervision, and my parents upgraded parts of the Magic Arrays…”

Anse followed behind and found the interior very spacious, with only a few sparse shelves, stone platforms, Treasure Chests, and such around the edges, holding dozens of Magical Items.

Further in was a huge round platform like a pool, gleaming with silver light.

There were also two Doors nearby, leading who-knows-where.

“Put it here; this is specially for storing giant beast corpses.” Illyas pointed at the round platform.

Anse activated the Scepter of Sanctuary, teleporting the Black Dragon corpse onto the round platform. Immediately, the platform emitted a circle of Spiritual Light Mana, completely enveloping the Black Dragon.

“I don’t understand it, but it feels extraordinary. By the way, why didn’t you become a Wizard?” He was a bit curious; Illyas was a pure Sorcerer with not a single Wizard level.

“I want to know too.” Illyas’s gaze was distant, “From as far back as I can remember, Father taught me how to control my Innate Magic, while Mother taught me various Arcana Knowledge.”

“That means your Talent is exceptional.” Anse speculated.

“No need to say it.” Illyas raised an eyebrow, looking matter-of-fact; she waved her hand, “Let’s go. I contacted a friend of my father’s earlier; she studied at Candlekeep and later moved to the Giant Plains.

Once she arrives, these things can truly be put to use.”

She had no intention of selling the Black Dragon; Materials of this level were rare, and selling them would be a waste.

“Mm.” Anse got the hint; he didn’t know how to process them either, so handing them to a Professional was fine. “The buyer you mentioned earlier for the Green Dragon Tail—is it her?”

“No.” Illyas watched the Secret Vault doors slowly close, then turned to go upstairs. “That person lives in the Toothed Forest; he’s a temperamental Alchemist who comes out every few days. If he’s interested, I’ll have someone notify you.”

“Sounds good.”

As they spoke, the two reached the first floor of the main Castle.

“You go rest; I’m heading to the Federation.” Illyas gave Anse a push; she had long noticed the fatigue in his eyes.

“Alright.” Anse waved his hand. “The Loot is still with me; discuss how to distribute it, try to give everyone a share—can’t let the hard work go to waste.”

“Won’t forget.”

Illyas gave a few instructions to the Butler and flew straight out of the Castle.

Anse returned to his Room, locked the Door, and Teleported to Hollewen.

The Treant was sleeping; it was injured, but not seriously.

New Village Chief Luding was leading dozens of villagers in building houses, bustling energetically.

The others were mostly in the Black Tower Hall, listening to Brat explain the recent Combat.

Anse greeted them, then went alone to the top floor, lay on the bed, and pulled up his Character Card.

A glowing mark shaped like a Black Dragon hovered above it, very eye-catching.

He touched it with his mind, and a segment of information flowed into his heart.

【Obtain Dragon Legacy, please select Legacy effect, or use to enhance one of your own dragon-related abilities】

‘So that’s how it is.’ After carefully reviewing the information, Anse understood.

When a Dragon dies, its power may take root in a certain Creature—this could be the dragon’s chosen heir or the killer who slew it.

Dragon Legacy is highly random with no set Pattern, and even the Legacy effects vary widely, sometimes even including negative effects.

However, the Dice had refined this power, making it more standardized.
